And whereas, by notice issued by the Governor on the
27th day of August 1953,+ Harold Ruegg, Esquire, was
appointed an officer of the Government of the Dependency
and vested with the powers and authorities described in the
said notice, and in particular with the general executive
and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty's
rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force
in the Dependency:
And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter
named be also appointed officers of the Government of the
Dependency:
Now therefore, I, Brigadier Sir Bernard Edward Fergusson,
the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the
Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint
Russell Endean Rawle, Esquire, M.C.,
as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I
hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which
may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace,
and also the powers and authorities which may be so
exercised by a Coroner, and also the powers and authorities
which may be so exercised by a Postmaster.
And I also appoint
Irwin David Smith, Esquire,
as an Officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I
hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which
may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster.
The said Russell Endean Rawle, M.C., and the said Irwin
David Smith to exercise their functions at such places within
the Dependency as may be directed by the said Harold
Ruegg, Esquire; and to hold office and exercise the duties
thereof during pleasure.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
as the Governor of the Ross Dependency, this 25th day of
September 1963.
