THE HON. J. R. MARSHALL PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.


ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Kuriwao Rabbit District Order 1963.

(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  1. The boundaries of the Kuriwao Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 6th day of November 1961,* are hereby altered and redefined and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE KURIWAO RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago and Southland Land Districts, and the Counties of Clutha and Southland, containing by estimation 157,640 acres, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the right bank of the Mimihaau Stream (North Branch) with the eastern boundary of Block IV, Slopedown Survey District, and proceeding generally north-easterly along the right bank of that stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 25, Block II, Slopedown Survey District; thence north-easterly to and generally easterly along the southern boundary of that Section 25 and the southern boundaries of Sections 15, 14, and 12, Block II aforesaid, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the south-western corner of Section 15, Block I, Slopedown Survey District; thence generally north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of that Section 15 and Section 14, Block I aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of that Section 14; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 14 and 13, Block I aforesaid, to the easternmost corner of that Section 13; thence south-easterly along a right line to a point on the west bank of the Waipahi River in line with the production of the south-western side of a road passing through Section 1, Block VII, Kuriwao Survey District; thence generally south-easterly to and along the south-western side of that road and its production to the south-eastern side of the Clinton-Wyndham road; thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern side of that road to the northernmost corner of Section 15, Block V, Kuriwao Survey District; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that Section 15 to the southern boundary of Block V; thence easterly along the southern boundaries of Blocks V and IV, Kuriwao Survey District, to the middle of the Waiwera Stream; thence generally northerly down the middle of that stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Run 96A, Warepa Survey District; thence easterly to and generally south-easterly along the northern and north-eastern boundaries of Runs 96A and 96 and Blocks XI and X, Warepa Survey District, to the northern-most corner of Section 22, Block X aforesaid; thence southerly along the western boundary of that Section 22 and its production to the middle of the Puerua River; thence generally westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 17, Block X aforesaid; thence southerly to and southerly, easterly, and again southerly along the western and southern boundaries of Section 17 aforesaid and the eastern boundary of Section 25, Block X aforesaid, and the production of that last-mentioned boundary to the northern boundary of Section 31, Block X aforesaid; thence generally easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of that Section 31 to the southern boundary of Warepa Survey District; thence westerly along that southern boundary of Warepa Survey District to the north-western side of the Little Puerua Road; thence generally north-easterly along that north-western side of that road to the south-western boundary of Section 1, Block IX Warepa Survey District; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries of that Section 1 to the middle of the Puerua River; thence generally westerly up the middle of that river to the eastern boundary of Run 517, Warepa Survey District; thence southerly along that eastern boundary of Run 517 and its production to the middle of the Owaka River; thence generally north-westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 12, Block VIII, Warepa Survey District; thence southerly to and along the western boundary of that section and its production to the western boundary of Section 9, Block VIII aforesaid; thence southerly along that western boundary of Section 9 and south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of that Section 9 and Section 8, Block VIII aforesaid, to Trig. Station O; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station Z, Wisp Hill, Block VI, Catlins Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station F; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Run 129 and its production to the south-eastern side of Chloris Pass Road; thence generally south-westerly along the south-eastern side of that road and its production to the middle of the Catlins River; thence generally south-easterly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Block VIII, Rimu Survey District; thence southerly to and along that boundary to the north-eastern corner of Section 29, Block XIV, Rimu Survey District; thence generally south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that Section 29 to a point on the south-eastern side of Aurora Creek Road in line with the south-western side of the road forming the generally northern boundary of Section 31, Block XIV aforesaid; thence generally westerly to and along the northern boundaries of Sections 31, 32, and 33, Block XIV, Rimu Survey District, to the north-western corner of Section 33; thence southerly along the western boundary of that Section 33 and its production to the middle of the Maclennan River; thence north-westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 20, Block XIV aforesaid, thence south-westerly to and along the north-western boundary of that Section 20 to its westernmost corner; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Section 21, Block XIV aforesaid, to its westernmost corner; thence north-westerly along a right line to the easternmost corner of Section 9, Block XIII, Rimu Survey District; thence generally north-westerly along the south-western side of the road forming the north-eastern boundaries of that Section 9 and Sections 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1, Block XIII aforesaid, to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Block XII, Rimu Survey District; thence northerly to and along the eastern boundary and westerly along the northern boundary of that Block XII and westerly along the northern boundary of Block X, Rimu Survey District, to the eastern boundary of Block XI, Mokoreta Survey District; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of Block XI aforesaid to the eastern boundary of Southland County as described in Gazette, 1962, page 402, being the leading ridge between Trig. Station EE and Table Ridge; thence generally north-westerly along the boundary of Southland County to the south-eastern boundary of Run 161A, Mokoreta Survey District; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Run 161A to the southernmost corner of Lot 6, D.P. 3411 (Southland Registry); thence generally north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries of that Lot 6 to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary with the boundary between Clutha and Southland Counties as described in Gazette, 1962, p. 402; thence north-westerly generally along the said boundary through Trig. G and Trig. H (The Chimney), to the westernmost point of Section 1, Block III, Mokoreta Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to Slopedown Hill; thence northerly, easterly and again northerly along the western and northern boundaries of Block II, Mokoreta Survey District, and the eastern boundaries of Blocks IX and IV, Slopedown Survey District, to the point of commencement.
