Open Season for Game in Acclimatisation Districts—North Island
IMPORTANT—The closed game areas published in the Supplement dated 3 May 1960 to the Gazette of 28 April 1960, and in any subsequent Gazette notice, apply to the 1963 open season for game, subject to any amendments thereto and deletions therefrom published in this notice.
This notice applies only to the open season for game in those acclimatisation districts which fall within the North Island.
PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs declares an open season for game of the kinds specified and in the acclimatisation districts specified in the Second Schedule hereto during the periods and shooting hours set forth in relation to each district, except in the closed game areas published in the Supplement dated 3 May 1960 to the Gazette of 28 April 1960, in the Gazette of 29 March 1961, 27 April 1961, 4 May 1961, 27 July 1961, 15 February 1962, and 5 April 1962, and in this notice, and subject to the special conditions published in this notice, and hereby calls the attention of sportsmen and others to the daily game possession limits set forth in the First Schedule hereto, and to the provisions set forth or referred to in the Fourth Schedule of the Supplement dated 3 May 1960 to the Gazette of 28 April 1960. Any person hunting or killing game otherwise than in the terms of this notification (including the special conditions specified in relation to any acclimatisation district) is liable on conviction to a fine of £50.
FIRST SCHEDULE
DAILY GAME POSSESSION LIMIT
Except where all game is labelled with the following details:
(a) The name and address of the person by whom the game was taken.
(b) The number of the licence to hunt or kill game held by the person by whom the game was taken;
(c) The name of the acclimatisation society by which that licence was issued; and
(d) The date on which the game was taken,
no person shall have in his possession on any one day those species of duck which are game in excess of the following numbers:
Saturday, 4 May 1963: A number of game corresponding to the number specified in this notification as the daily bag limit in respect of grey, mallard, shoveler (or spoon-bill), and paradise ducks.
Sunday, 5 May 1963: Twice the number of game specified for Saturday, 4 May 1963.
Every subsequent day: As for Saturday, 4 May 1963.
SECOND SCHEDULE
AUCKLAND ACCLIMATISATION DISTRICT

Special Conditions
-
No person shall use or cause to be used for the hunting or killing of game on Lake Waikare any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo, except within 200 yd of the margin of the said lake.

No person shall use or cause to be used for the hunting or killing of game on Lake Ngaroto any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo, except within 90 yd of the margin of the said lake.

No person shall claim any stand, hide, shelter, maimai, mudhole, loo, louvre, or position, except by the planting thereon of a stake having attached thereto either a board or an identifying label being plainly marked with the name and address of the claimant, and also having attached thereto a metal marker issued to the claimant with his licence.

The Manurewa Oxidation Ponds; being all that land in the Manukau County in Block XIV, Otahuhu Survey District, being lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 on Deposited Plan No. 46600 (Auckland Registry), and the land below mean high water ordinary spring tides which is cut off from the sea by a bank and comprises the land of the oxidation pond of the Manurewa Sewage Treatment Plant. Also the water lying on and over any of the land herein before described. All as more particularly delineated on a plan lodged at the office of the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board and numbered 3618.
