Declaration That Part of the Waikouaiti Domain Shall be a Recreation Reserve, Change of the Purpose of the Reserve, and Appointment of the New Zealand Priory Trust Board to Control and Manage the Reserve

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby declares that that part of the Waikouaiti Domain described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part III of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, and shall be deemed to be a recreation reserve subject to Part II of the said Act, and, further, pursuant to the said Act, changes the purpose of the said reserve from a reserve for recreation purposes to a reserve for a site for an ambulance brigade training centre, and appoints the New Zealand Priory Trust Board to control and manage the reserve, subject to the provisions of the said Act, as a reserve for a site for an ambulance brigade training centre.

Declaring an Area for Use by Speedboats and Water Skiers

PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962, the Minister of Marine hereby declares that for a period of two years from the date hereof, subject to compliance with the conditions set out in the Second Schedule hereto, the area of water described in the First Schedule hereto shall not be subject to regulations 11 and 12 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962.

FIRST SCHEDULE
ALL that area of water known as the Narrows at the seaward end of Lake Forsythe generally westward of a line drawn from the easternmost point of Birdling’s Flat in a 149° true direction to the opposite shore.

SECOND SCHEDULE
At each end of the boundary line mentioned in the First Schedule hereto there shall be placed a notice board, measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft, painted white with black letters. The aforesaid notice boards shall contain the following notice:

“NOTICE
Motor Launch Regulations 1962
No speed restrictions for motor launches and water skiers westward of this notice.”

Declaring an Area for Speed Boats and Water Skiers

PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962, the Minister of Marine hereby declares that for a period of two years from the date of this notice, subject to compliance with the conditions set out in the Second Schedule hereto, the area of water described in the First Schedule hereto shall be a reserved area for use for the purposes set out in regulation 14 of the said regulations, and within such reserved area regulations 11 and 12 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962 shall not apply.

FIRST SCHEDULE
ALL that area of water in Lake Ellesmere in the vicinity of Lakeside Domain and Timber Yard Point bounded by a line commencing at a position on shore near the tide gauge marked by a post surmounted by a notice bearing the words “Harts Creek Wildlife Refuge” and proceeding in an 047° true direction for a distance of 1 mile; thence along a line bearing 139° true for a distance of ⅔ths of a mile; thence along a line bearing 227° true through Willow Island to the shore line of the mainland.

SECOND SCHEDULE
THE reserved area shall be marked as follows:

1. At the place where boats are launched and at the shore ends of the boundary line outlining the area described in the First Schedule there shall be placed notice boards measuring 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft painted white with black lettering.

2. The aforesaid notice boards shall contain the following notice:

“NOTICE
Motor Launch Regulations 1962
Area for water skiers and speedboats extends north-eastwards to buoys 1 mile out and ⅔ths of a mile apart.”

3. Red and yellow striped buoys shall be suitably moored at the north-eastern extremities of the north-western and south-eastern boundary lines.

Establishment of Mercantile Marine Office at Port of Whangarei

PURSUANT to section 10 of the Shipping and Seamen Act 1952, the Minister of Marine hereby establishes an office of the Marine Department in the Customhouse at Whangarei, to be called the Mercantile Marine Office.
