Declaring Areas to be Access Lanes for the Purposes
of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962

Pursuant to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962, the
Minister of Marine hereby declares that, for a period three
months from the date hereof, subject to compliance with the
conditions set out in the First Schedule hereto, the areas of
water firstly to seventhly described in the Second Schedule
hereto shall respectively be access lanes and that within such
access lanes regulations 11 and 12 of the Motor Launch
Regulations 1962 shall not apply.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Each access lane shall be marked as follows:

  1. Brightly painted marker buoys each 50 yards apart
    commencing 50 yards from the edge of the lake at normal lake
    level shall be suitably moored along each side of the access
    lane.

  2. On the edge of the lake at normal lake level at each
    side of the access lane in line with the marker buoys there
    shall be placed, on a black and orange painted post, a notice
    board measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft painted orange
    with black letters.

  3. The aforesaid notice board shall contain the following
    notice:

"NOTICE
Motor Launch Regulations 1962
Access lane through which motor launches
towing water skiers may pass at speeds
greater than 5 miles per hour.
Bathers Keep Out."

SECOND SCHEDULE

Firstly, All that area of water at the eastern shore of Lake
Roto Ehu bounded on the sides by parallel lines 50 yards
apart extending in a 288° true direction 200 yards from the
water's edge, the northern boundary being 50 yards south of
Mr West's property boundary and being marked by orange
and black painted posts.

Secondly, All that area of water fronting the road reserve
east of what is known as Gisborne Point, Lake Rotoiti,
bounded on the sides by parallel lines 75 yards apart extending
in a 018° true direction 200 yards from the water's edge,
the western boundary being marked by an orange and black
painted post approximately 100 yards east of the old logging
skids.

Thirdly, All that area of water fronting the road reserve
north-east of the Wai-iti Maori School, Lake Rotoiti, bounded
on the sides by parallel lines 100 yards apart extending at a
003° true direction 200 yards from the edge of the water, the
north-eastern and south-western boundaries being marked by
orange and black painted posts, the north-eastern boundary
commencing approximately 400 yards south of the Tapuea-
hararu Stream.

Fourthly, All that area of water approximately midway
between Te Karaka and Te Atero Bays on the northern
coastline of Lake Rotoiti, bounded on the sides by parallel
lines 100 yards apart extending in a 198° true direction 200
yards from the shore, the eastern and western boundaries
being marked by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Fifthly, All that area of water at Okara Bay, Lake Rotoiti,
bounded on the sides by parallel lines 100 yards apart extending
in a 080° true direction 200 yards from the water's edge,
the south-eastern and the north-western boundaries being
marked by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Seventhly, All that area of water approximately midway
between Potangotango and Ngarehu Points, Lake Rotoiti,
bounded on the sides by parallel lines 50 yards apart extending
in a 328° true direction 200 yards from the water's edge, the
north-eastern boundary being the south-western boundary of
the Scenic Reserve.

Firstly, All that area of water at the south-eastern end of
Lake Rotoma bounded on the sides by parallel lines 200
yards apart extending in a 303° true direction 200 yards
from the edge of the water, the south-western boundary
commencing 150 yards north-east of the boat-launching site.

Secondly, All that area of water at the north end of Lake
Rotoma, known as Manawahe Bay, bounded on the sides by
parallel lines 150 yards apart extending in a 225° true direction
200 yards from the edge of the water, the south-eastern
boundary commencing 50 yards north-west of the boat-
launching site.

Thirdly, All that area of water at Hikataua Point, Lake
Rotoma, bounded on the sides by parallel lines 100 yards
apart extending in a 140° true direction 200 yards from the
edge of the water, the south-western boundary commencing
150 yards north-east of Whangaroa Bay and 007° true direc-
tion from the Otei Stream.

Fourthly, All that area of water off the north-western shore
of Lake Rotoma, 134° true direction from the Matutu Point,
bounded on the sides by parallel lines 50 yards apart extend-
ing in a 178° true direction 200 yards from the edge of the
water, the south-western and north-eastern boundaries being
marked by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Fifthly, All that area of water on the Whakarewarewa
Lagoon Beach on the south-eastern side of Lake Rotoma
bounded on the sides by parallel lines 50 yards apart extending
in a 326° true direction 200 yards from the edge of the water,
the south-western and north-eastern boundaries being marked
by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Sixthly, All that area of water at Cherry Bay, Lake Oka-
taina, bounded on the sides by parallel lines 100 yards apart
extending in a 051° true direction 200 yards from the edge of
the water, the south-eastern and north-western boundaries
being marked by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Seventhly, All that area of water at Whites Bay, Lake Oka-
taina, bounded on the sides by parallel lines 100 yards apart
extending in a 108° true direction 200 yards from the edge
of the water, the southern and northern boundaries being
marked by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Eighthly, All that area of water in what is known as Nude
Bay, Lake Okataina, bounded on the sides by parallel lines
100 yards apart extending in a 213° true direction 200 yards
from the edge of the water, the eastern and western boun-
daries being marked by orange and black painted posts on
the shore.

Ninthly, All that area of water at Tauranganui Bay, Lake
Okataina, bounded on the sides by parallel lines 50 yards
apart extending in a 223° true direction 200 yards from the
shore, the south-eastern and north-western boundaries being
marked by orange and black painted posts on the shore.

Declaring Areas for Operation of Motor Launches and Water
Skiers

Pursuant to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962, the Minis-
ter of Marine hereby declares that, for a period of three
months from the date of this notice, subject to compliance
with the conditions set out in the Second Schedule hereto the
areas of water firstly and secondly described in the First
Schedule hereto shall not be subject to regulations 11 and 12
of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962, and the area secondly
described shall be an access lane.

FIRST SCHEDULE

Firstly, All that area of water in Lake Whakamaru enclosed
within parallel lines across the lake at right angles to and at
the extremities of a line drawn between points on the edge
of the lake on the same side of and one-third of a mile
respectively north and south of a white scar on the bluff
opposite the public reserve northward of Mr J. Dunham's
homestead, excepting thereout the access lane secondly des-
cribed in this Schedule.
