Special Order Made by Rangitikei County Council Altering
Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the
Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following
special order made by the Rangitikei County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of
the Counties Act 1956, the Rangitikei County Council hereby
resolves by way of special order:

1. That the present ridings of Porewa, Otakapu, and Rangi-
   toto be abolished and in lieu thereof four new ridings to be
   called Porewa, Otakapu, Rangitoto, and Pukepapa be formed,
   the boundaries of which ridings are defined in the Schedule
   hereto.

2. That the boundaries of the Whangaehu, Otairi, Te Kapua,
   and Awarua ridings be amended in accordance with the
   boundaries as defined in the Schedule hereto.

3. That the alterations hereby made shall take effect on and
   after the 7th day of September 1962.

4. That the representation of all ridings on the Council
   shall be one member for each of the 12 ridings of the Council.

SCHEDULE

POREW A RIDING

ALL that area in the Rangitikei County bounded by a line
commencing at a point on the eastern side of Upper Tutaenui
Road in line with the northern boundary of Lot 24, Deeds
Plan 256, in Block XI, Whangaehu Survey District, being a
point on the boundary of Pukepapa Riding hereinafter
described, and proceeding northerly generally along that side,
to and along the southern boundary of part Block LVII,
Rangitikei District, and its production to and up the middle
of the Tutaenui Stream to the western side of the said Upper
Tutaenui Road; thence southerly along that side and its pro-
duction to the south-western side of Makohau Road; thence
north-westerly generally along that side, to and along the
southern and generally western boundary of part Block LVII,
Rangitikei District, shown coloured sepia on S.O. Plan 23185,
to the south-western side of Makohau Road as defined on

Curl Road to a point in line with the southern boundary of

eastern boundary of the said Lot 2, the eastern boundary of

of No. 1 National State Highway; thence north-westerly
generally along the middle of that highway, Curls Bridge-
Tutaenui Road, and Whales Line and northerly along the
middle of Pukepapa Road to a point in line with the southern
boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 23311, being a point on the boundary
of Pukepapa Riding hereinafter described; thence northerly
generally along that boundary to the point of commencement,
excluding therefrom the Borough of Marton as described in
Gazette, 1922, page 2788.

OTAKAPU RIDING

All that area in the County of Rangitikei bounded by a
line commencing at a point on the sea coast in line with
the north-western boundary of Run 19 in Block III, Koitiata
Survey District, being a point on the boundary of Rangitoto
Riding hereinafter described, and proceeding north-westerly
along the sea coast to and north-easterly generally up the
middle of the Whangaehu River to a point in line with the
south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 7562, in Block XII,
Ikitara Survey District; thence south-westerly along that
boundary, to and south-easterly along the south-western
boundaries of Whakaware 1, 2c, and 3, and the southern
boundary of Whakaware 3 and its production to the middle
of the Turakina River; thence south-westerly generally down
the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-
western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. A/114, in Block XIII,
Whangaehu Survey District; thence easterly generally to and
along that boundary, the generally south-western boundaries
of that lot, crossing Turakina Valley Road, the southern
boundaries of Lot 4, D.P. 10228, and Lot 1, D.P. 9428, to
and along the southern side of Waimutu Road to the north-
eastern corner of part Lot 1, D.P. A/2311; thence southerly
along the eastern boundaries of that lot, Lot 6, D.P. 2807, and
Lot 1, D.P. 12234, along a right line across the Foxton-New
Plymouth Railway, to and along the eastern boundary of
Lot 3, D.P. 16361, and its production to the middle of
Wanganui Road; thence westerly along the middle of that
road to a point in line with the eastern side of Gowlers Road;
thence southerly generally to and along that side, to and
along the generally north-western boundaries of Sections 86
and 87, Turakina District, and the northern and generally
south-western boundary of Section 89, Turakina District, to
a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P.
18777, to and along that boundary and its production to the
middle of No. 3 National State Highway; thence south-
easterly along the middle of that highway to a point in line
with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 14181, being
a point on the boundary of Rangitoto Riding hereinafter
described; thence westerly generally along that boundary
to the point of commencement.

RANGITOTO RIDING

All that area in the County of Rangitikei bounded by a
line commencing at a point on the sea coast in line with
the north-western boundary of Run 19 in Block III, Koitiata
Survey District, being a point on the boundary of the County
of Rangitikei as described in Gazette, 1957, page 1653, and
proceeding north-easterly to and along that boundary to the
northern corner of the said Run 19; thence south-easterly
along a right line to the westernmost corner of Block CCCV,
Rangitikei District; thence easterly generally along the
generally north-western and north-eastern boundaries of that
block and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to
the eastern side of Santoft Road; thence north-easterly
generally along that side and the generally south-eastern side
of that road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary
of Lot 3, D.P. 14181, in Block V, Rangitoto Survey District,
to and along that boundary and a right line across Lot, 2,
D.P. 14181, to and along the south-eastern boundary of
Lot 1, D.P. 14181, and its production to the middle of No.
3 National State Highway; thence easterly along the middle
of that highway to a point in line with the middle line of
Pukepapa Road; thence northerly to and along the middle
line of that road to its intersection with the middle line of
Whales Line; thence south-easterly generally along the middle
of Whales Line, Curls Bridge-Tutaenui Road, and No. 1
National State Highway to a point in line with the southern
boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 9050, to and along that boundary
and its production to the middle of the Rangitikei River;

in line with the south-western side of a closed road as shown
on S.O. Plan 15839, in Block XI, Rangitoto Survey District;
thence north-westerly generally to and along that side, to
and along the south-eastern side of No. 1 National State
Highway to a point in line with the south-western boundary
