RAWENE RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Hokianga County, bounded by a line commencing at the westernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 10390, in Block XI, Waoku Survey District, and proceeding north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of Whakatere Manawakaiaia B 68, B 69, B 70, and B 71 to the westernmost corner of the said B71; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Section 22, Block X, Waoku Survey District (State forest, Gazette, 1953, page 1787), the abutal of a public road, the eastern boundary of Section 21, Block X, aforesaid (State forest, Gazette, 1953, page 1787) and that last-named boundary produced to the middle of the Whirinaki River; thence westerly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the eastern end of the public road forming the northern boundary of Section 23, Block V, Waoku Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to and along the south-eastern end of the said road and Sections 23 and 22, Block V, aforesaid, and that last-named boundary produced to the western side of Mountain Road; thence north-westerly along that roadside to the south-eastern corner of Section 4, Block V, aforesaid; thence westerly along the southern boundary of the said section and Section 1, Block V, and that last-named boundary produced to the middle of a public road; thence northerly and north-westerly along the middle of that road forming the eastern and north-eastern boundaries of Sections 7, 20, and 15, Block VI Hokianga Survey District, and Pakanae part 2W, 2x, parts 2Y, 2B, and 2I, to the intersection of the middle of the Awapokanui Stream; thence down the middle of that stream to the limit of tidal influence and along the line of mean high water of the northern side of the said stream and northerly and easterly generally along the line of mean high water of the Hokianga Harbour, Whirinaki River, Wharekauere Stream, Omanaia and Waima Rivers, to the western boundary of the Taheke Riding, hereinbefore described, and southerly along that boundary to the point of commencement, excluding thereout the Rawene Town District as described in Gazette, 1922, page 2650.
OMAPERE RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Hokianga County, bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Section 18, Block XVI, Waoku Survey District (State forest, Gazette, 1943, page 703), and proceeding westerly and northerly generally along the generally southern and western boundaries of the Hokianga County as described in Gazette, 1918, page 1686, to the entrance of the Hokianga Harbour; thence northerly generally along the line of mean high water of the eastern side of that harbour to the intersection of the south-western boundary of the Rawene Riding hereinbefore described; thence south-easterly along that boundary and the generally south-western boundary of the Taheke Riding hereinbefore described, to the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Otamatea County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, the Otamatea County Council hereby resolves by way of special order to alter the number of ridings within the county by abolishing the existing Matakohoe Riding and by establishing in lieu thereof two new ridings, namely, the Matakohoe and Hukatere Ridings. The boundaries of the said Matakohoe and Hukatere Ridings shall be as described in the Schedule hereto, and the alteration herein described shall come into force at the next general election of the Council on the 13th day of October 1962, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for providing for that election.
SCHEDULE
MATAKOHE RIDING
ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, Otamatea County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Mangonui River in line with the western boundary of part Allotment 155, Omaru Parish, as shown on D.P. 22959, in Block I, Matakohoe Survey District, and proceeding easterly generally up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of part Allotment 237, Mareretu Parish, in Block II, Matakohoe Survey District; thence southerly along a right line to and along the abuttal of a public road, the western boundary of part Allotment 237, a right line crossing a public road, the western boundaries of another part Allotment 237, Allotments 238 and 240, Lot 1, D.P. 23424, Allotment 243 (scenic reserve, Gazette 1914, page 529), 244, 245, 217, and 216, all the said allotments being of Mareretu Parish, to the south-western corner of the said Allotment 216; thence southerly along a right line crossing a public road to and south-westerly generally along the north-western boundary of Allotment 155, Paparoa Parish, and westerly along the northern boundaries of Allotments N.E. 139, M. 139, part N.E. 138, M. 138, S.W. 138 and 137, and southerly along the western boundary of the said Allotment 137, crossing the intervening public roads, to and again southerly along the western boundaries of Allotments 268, S.W. 140 and S.W. 145, along a right line across a public road and along the western boundaries of Allotments N.W. 146 and S.E. 146, and south-westerly along a right line crossing a public road to and south-westerly and southerly along the north-western and western boundaries of Allotment 166 and the western boundaries of Allotments N. 165, S. 165, N.W. 164, and S.W. 164, easterly along the southern boundaries of the said Allotment S.W. 164 and Allotments S.E. 164, part 163, a right line crossing a public road, and along the southern boundary of part Allotment 266, all the said allotments being of Matakohoe Parish, and that last-named boundary produced to the middle of the Matakohe River; thence down the middle of that river, to and up the middle of the Te Mateotetawa River to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 7, D.P. 29745; thence along a right line to and north-easterly and easterly along the north-western and northern boundaries of the said Lot 7, and northerly along the western boundary of part Allotment S.E. 5, shown on D.P. 4123, and its production to the north-eastern side of the public road forming the south-western boundary of Allotments E. 4 and W. 4, and then passing through the last-named allotment; thence north-westerly and northerly along that roadside, to and along a right line crossing another public road to the southernmost corner of Allotment E.M. 7; thence westerly along the northern side of the said road and its production to the middle of State Highway No. 12; thence westerly generally along the middle of the said highway, to and northerly along the middle of the public road forming the western boundaries of part Allotment 58, Matakohoe Parish, and Lot 4, D.P. 25744, to the northern end of that road; thence westerly along the southern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 25744, and north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of that lot and Lots 3 and 1, D.P. 25744, to the south-eastern boundary of Allotment 79A; thence south-westerly along that boundary and north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries of the said allotment to the western side of a public road; thence due east to the middle of that road and northerly along the middle of the said road and north-easterly generally along the middle of the public road forming the generally north-western boundaries of Lot 4, D.P. 42543, and Allotments part 81, S.W. 82, N.E. 82, 83, and 84, Matakohoe Parish, and that middle line produced to the south-western boundary of Allotment S. 118, Omaru Parish; thence northerly along a right line to and along the said eastern boundary and the eastern boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 29891, and that last-named boundary produced to the middle of the public road forming the north-eastern boundary of the said Lot 1; thence north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Allotment 251, Omaru Parish; thence northerly along a right line, to and along the said boundary, the eastern boundaries of Allotment 185, and Lot 1, D.P. 25281, and that last-named boundary produced across Section 4, Block V, Matakohoe Survey District, to the middle of the public road forming the north-western boundary of the said Section 4; thence north-easterly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 18372; thence northerly along the said boundary and the western boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 18372, and part Allotment 155, Omaru Parish, shown on D.P. 22959, and that last-named boundary produced to the point of commencement.
HUKATERE RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Otamatea County, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the middle lines of State Highway No. 12 and the public road forming the eastern boundaries of Allotments 257D, 257E, 257F, 257A, and 259, Matakohoe Parish, Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 43016, Lots 4 and 3, D.P. 4598, Section 6s, Whakata Settlement, and Sections 13 and 25, Block I, Hukatere Survey District, and proceeding southerly along the middle of that road to the left bank of the Wairoa River; thence south-
