Declaring Public Works to be Works of Importance and Urgency

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 13th day of August 1962
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 17 of the Tenancy Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the public works described in the Schedule hereto to be works of importance and urgency for the purposes of that section.

SCHEDULE
THE erection of an export wharf at Port Chalmers and harbour development works incidental thereto, being works to be carried out on the following land:

0 1 3·77 Being Allotment 1, D.P. 3904, Town of Port Chalmers, more usually referred to as Export Wharf, Port Chalmers.
0 0 21·75 (estimated) Being an area adjoining the said Allotment 1 and occupied by Shaw Savill and Albion Co. Ltd.
0 1 10·80 Being Allotments 2 and 3, D.P. 3904, Town of Port Chalmers.
0 0 4·98 (estimated) Being an area of land adjoining the said Allotments 2 and 3 and occupied by the New Zealand Shipping Co. Ltd.
Unascertained. Being those portions of the old freezing works on the endowment of the Otago Harbour Board in the Borough of Port Chalmers, fronting Beach Street and the new George Street extension access to George Street Pier, and occupied by James McElwee.

PURSUANT to section 5 of the Taupo County Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order:

  1. That the first election of members of the Taupo County Council shall be held on Saturday, the 13th day of October 1962.
  2. That the number of members of the said Council shall be 10 to be elected as follows:

Boundaries of City of Gisborne and County of Cook Altered

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1961, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order:

O R D E R

  1. The area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby excluded from the County of Cook and included in the City of Gisborne.
  2. The alteration of the boundaries of the said county and the said city hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.

SCHEDULE
ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, County of Cook, containing an area of 15 acres 2 roods and 25·1 perches more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of Howarth Street, being a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 2217, in Block III, Turanganui Survey District, and being a point on the boundary of the City of Gisborne as described in Gazette, 1956, pages 409, 410, and proceeding north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of that part of Lot 39, D.P. 168, as shown on Survey Office Plan 5310, to its northernmost corner; thence south-easterly, north-easterly, again south-easterly along the north-eastern, north-western, and again north-eastern boundaries of the said part Lot 39 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Valley Road to its south-eastern side; thence southerly generally along the said roadside, the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Lots 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, part 8, 18, 17, 16, 15, and 14, D.P. 4387, to the southernmost corner of the last-mentioned Lot; thence north-westerly generally along the south-western boundaries of Lots 14 and 1, D.P. 4387, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of Valley Road, along the middle of that road to a point in line with the middle of Howarth Street, to and along the middle of Howarth Street to the point of commencement.
