Kaitaia Drainage Area—Notice of Making and Levying General Rates
Pursuant to the Swamp Drainage Act 1915 and its amendments, the Minister of Lands does hereby make and levy, on the unimproved value of all land within the Kaitaia Town District subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area constituted under the said Act, a general rate described in the First Schedule hereto, and on the unimproved value of all land in the subdivision of the Kaitaia Drainage Area outside the Kaitaia Town District, the general rates described in the Second Schedule hereto, to meet maintenance costs for the period from 1 April 1962 to 31 March 1963.
The amount of such rates, together with the amount of the annually recurring special rates already made and levied, will be payable in one sum on 30 August 1962.
The rate book of the area will be open for inspection at the office of the Collector of Rates, Customs Buildings, Customs Street West, Auckland, and a copy of same may be inspected at the office of the Lands and Survey Department, Kaitaia, at all times at which those offices are open for the transaction of public business.
FIRST SCHEDULE
TOWN SUBDIVISION
On the unimproved value of all lands within the Kaitaia Town District, thirty-three one-hundredths of a penny (0·33d.) in the pound.
SECOND SCHEDULE
RURAL SUBDIVISION
Class A: On the unimproved value of all lands classified as Class A by the persons appointed to classify lands under section 3 of the Swamp Drainage Amendment Act 1928, fifty pence and sixty-two one-hundredths of a penny (50·62d.) in the pound.
Class B: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class B, seventeen pence and seventy-two one-hundredths of a penny (17·72d.) in the pound.
Class C: On the unimproved value of all lands so classified as Class C, seven pence and fifty-nine one-hundredths of a penny (7·59d.) in the pound.

Alteration of Rules for Election of Representatives of Insurance Companies to Fire Boards and Fire Committees (Time and Place of Meeting to Approve Alteration)
Pursuant to section 25 of the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby fixes 10 a.m. on Friday, 31 August 1962, as the time, and the office of the Council of Fire and Accident Underwriters Associations, 97 The Terrace, Wellington, as the place, for the meeting of representatives of fire insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand, for the purpose of considering amendments to the rules for the election of members to fire boards and fire committees by insurance companies under the Fire Services Act 1949.

Notice is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the Forests Act 1949 as permanent State forest land.

Exemption of Veteran Cars from Braking and Lighting Requirements
Pursuant to subclause (1) of regulation 25A of the Traffic Regulations 1956* (as inserted by regulation 2 of the Traffic Regulations 1956, Amendment No. 4), the Commissioner of Transport hereby exempts the vehicles specified in the Schedule hereto from the requirements of the said regulations in regard to service brakes, headlamps, and the dipping of lights, provided that the owner is a member of the Veteran and Vintage Car Club (Waikato) Incorporated; that the speed of the vehicle is limited to 20 miles per hour; that the service brake is capable of stopping the vehicle in a distance of 75 ft from a speed of 20 miles per hour or the equivalent braking efficiency for a vehicle which cannot attain this speed; and that the headlamps display beams of light of sufficient power to enable substantial objects and the nature of the road surface at a distance of at least 100 ft directly in front of the vehicle to be clearly visible during hours of darkness under normal driving and atmospheric conditions to a driver of normal vision.

Motor vehicles constructed before 31 December 1918 and known as veteran cars.
