THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE
No. 40
(1) That the present division of the County of Bay of Islands into nine ridings be revoked, and in lieu thereof the said County shall be divided into 10 ridings, as detailed in the Schedule hereunder, to be called respectively:
Okaihau Riding,
Kerikeri Riding,
Waimate Riding,
Russell Riding,
Waitangi Riding,
Pakaraka Riding,
Matapaua Riding,
Tautoro Riding,
Kawakawa Riding, and Towai Riding.
(2) That the alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 14th day of September 1962.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF OKAIHAU RIDING
ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the northern boundary of Bay of Islands County as described in Gazette 1954, page 287, with the western boundary of Section 1, Block II, Kerikeri Survey District, and proceeding southerly generally along the western and southern boundaries of Section 1 aforesaid and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and along the middle of State Highway No. 10, to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 32003, in Block X, Kerikeri Survey District; thence along a right line to and along that western boundary and its production to and up the middle of the Puketotara River, to and again southerly generally along the eastern boundary of Section 4, Block I, Kawakawa Survey District, along the south-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block IV, Omapere Survey District, and along the generally eastern boundary of Section 34 of the said Block IV and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and along the middle of the Okaihau-Kerikeri Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 15, Block IV, aforesaid; thence still southerly generally along a right line to and along the south-western and southern boundaries of the said Section 15, to and along the south-western boundaries of Whakataha 3B, 3, part 3B 2, shown on D.P. 13424, another part 3B 2, and again along the south-western boundary of 3B 3 and its production to and up the middle of the Waitangi River to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, Omapere Survey District; thence along a right line to and along that north-eastern boundary and along the north-western and south-western boundaries of Section 2, Block VIII, aforesaid, to and along the south-eastern boundary of part Section 3, Block VIII, aforesaid, and along the northern, north-western, and south-western boundary of another part Section 3, shown on D.P. 4140, and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and up the middle of the Waitangi River to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4126; thence along a right line to and along the north-western and south-western boundaries of the said Lot 1, along the south-western boundary of Waitata Block, and again along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 1, D.P. 4126, to and along the north-western boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 4126, and its production to the southern side of State Highway No. 1; thence along the southern side of that highway to and along the north-western boundaries of part Section 37, Block XI, Omapere Survey District, and Lot 8, D.P. 4126, to the shore of Omapere Lake; thence along the eastern and southern shores of Omapere Lake, to and along the western boundary of Tumataroa Block and its production to the middle of the Waihoanga Stream, crossing the intervening Okaihau-Kawakawa Railway and Omapere Road; thence up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 12, Block X, Omapere Survey District; thence along a right line to and along the north-western and western boundaries of the said Section 12 and along the northern boundary of Section 2, Block XIV, Omapere Survey District, to its intersection with the boundary of Bay of Islands County; thence northerly and north-easterly generally along the boundary of that county as described in Gazette 1954, page 287, to the point of commencement.
BOUNDARIES OF KERIKERI RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the Bay of Islands County as described in Gazette 1954, page 287, with the western boundary of Section 1, Block II, Kerikeri Survey District, and proceeding easterly generally along the aforesaid county boundary to the easternmost extremity of Harakehe Island; thence southerly along a right line to a point in the Bay of Islands 120 chains due east of the junction of the middle of the Wairoa Stream with the western shore of Wairoa Bay in Block IV, Kawakawa Survey District; thence westerly generally along a right line to and up the middle of the said stream and along the northern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 25367, and Section 7, Block III, Kawakawa Survey District, and again along the generally northern and western boundaries of the aforesaid Lot 1, and along the generally north-western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 9299, and that boundary produced to and up the middle of the Waitangi River to its intersection with the middle of State Highway No. 10 in Block VI, Kawakawa Survey District; thence northerly generally along the middle of the said State highway to and along the eastern boundary of Okaihau Riding as hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.
BOUNDARIES OF WAIMATE RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the middle of the Puketotara River with the middle of State Highway No. 10 in Block X, Kerikeri Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly generally along the south-western boundary of Kerikeri Riding as hereinbefore described to the middle of the Waitangi River; thence down the middle of the Waitangi River and up the middle of the Waiaruhe River to and south-westerly generally along the middle of the Ohaeawai-Bay Road, the middle of State Highway No. 1, and the middle of State Highway No. 12, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of part Oraruwharo 2 in Block XVI, Omapere Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along a right line, to and along the north-eastern and northern boundary of the said part 2, along the northern boundary of Oraruwharo 1A, to and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 15s, 12s, and 2s, Te Pua Settlement, and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of Tarahi Road in Block XII, Omapere Survey District; thence along the middle of that road and the middle of a public road forming the western boundary of the aforesaid Section 2s to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Taraire 2AD; thence along a right line to and along that north-eastern boundary and the north-eastern boundaries of part Taraire 2AB to the shores of Omapere Lake; thence north-easterly generally along the south-eastern boundary of Okaihau Riding hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.
BOUNDARIES OF RUSSELL RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing at the eastern-most extremity of Harakeke Island in Block IX, Bay of Islands Survey District, and proceeding easterly along a right line to the northernmost extremity of Piercy Island (Motukokako), to and southerly generally along the eastern boundary of Bay of Islands County as described in Gazette 1954, page 287, to the westernmost corner of Punaruku 2 in Block XV, Russell Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along the north-western boundaries of Taumatahinau Block, Section 4, Block XV, aforesaid, Sections 12 and 11, Block XIV, Russell Survey District, along the northern end of Owae Road, along the generally northern boundaries of Sections 3, 2, and 1, Block XIV, aforesaid, and Allotment 94, Ruapekapeka Parish, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Allotment 78, Ruapekapeka Parish; thence north-westerly generally along a right line across a public road to and along that north-eastern boundary, the eastern boundaries of Allotment 79, Ruapekapeka Parish, and Section 5, Block IX, Russell Survey District, crossing the intervening Karetu Road and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and down the middle of the Karetu River, down the middle of the Kawakawa River and the middle of the Veronica Channel and along a right line across the Bay of Islands to a point 120 chains due east of the junction of the middle of the Wairoa Stream with the western shore of Wairoa Bay in Block IV, Kawakawa Survey District; thence northerly along the boundary of Kerikeri Riding as hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.
BOUNDARIES OF WAITANGI RIDING
All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waitangi River in line with the eastern boundary of Waihi Tapu Block in Block II, Kawakawa Survey District, and proceeding easterly generally along the southern boundary of Kerikeri Riding as hereinbefore described, to and southerly generally along the western boundary of Russell Riding as hereinbefore described to the junction of the middle of the Kawakawa River with the middle of the Karetu River in Block IX, Russell Survey District; thence westerly generally up the middle of the Kawakawa River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Allotment 148, Kawakawa Parish; thence along a right line across the Opua-Whangarei Railway, to and along the eastern and northern boundaries of the said Allotment 148, the northern boundary of Allotment 147 and the eastern and northern boundaries of Allotment 182, Kawakawa Parish and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and along the middle of a public road forming the northern boundaries of Allotment 183, Section 6, Block XII, Kawakawa Survey District, Allotments 1, 4, 5, and 6, the northern and eastern boundaries of Allotment 7, and the northern boundaries of Allotments 10 and 11, to a point in line with the western boundary of the said Allotment 11, all the aforesaid Allotments being of Kawakawa Parish; thence along a right line to and along that western boundary and along the north-western and western boundaries of Allotment 253, Kawakawa Parish, to and along the generally southern boundaries of Allotments 43 and 44, crossing the intervening public road, and along a right line across another public road to and along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of Allotment 45, along the northern boundary of Allotment 47, along the northern and western boundaries of Allotment 51, and along the western boundaries of Allotments 50 and 135, to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of part Allotment 74, all the aforesaid allotments being of Kawakawa Parish; thence still westerly generally across a public road, to and along the north-eastern and northern boundaries of the said part Allotment 74 and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and along the western side of a public road forming the eastern boundaries of part Lot 2, D.P. 26645, and Lot 3, D.P. 26574, and that roadside produced to and along the middle of Huaparu Road and a public road forming the north-eastern
