SOUTH LAND CATCHMENT BOARD

LOCHIEL CHANNEL RATING DISTRICT

NOTICE is hereby given that the lands in that part of the South-
land Catchment District to be described in the Schedule hereto
and more particularly delineated on Classification Plans SCB.
A 52/6 and A 52/7 deposited for inspection at the offices of
the Southland Catchment Board, 143 Spey Street, Invercargill,
and intended to be known as the Lochiel Channel Rating
District, has been classified under the Soil Conservation and
Rivers Control Act 1941, and the classification is deemed a
valid classification as from the 28th day of February 1962.

THE SCHEDULE

Definition of Lochiel Channel Rating District

ALL that area of 9,240 acres, approximately, in New River
Hundred, Winton Hundred, and East Winton Town bounded
by a line commencing at a point on the east bank of the Oreti
River at the south-west corner of Gravel Reserve, part Section
1, Block XIV, New River Hundred; then northerly and
easterly along the southern boundary of the said part Section 1
and continuing east along the north side of Turkey Road to the
west side of the Lochiel-Branxholme Main Highway; then
northerly along the western side of the said highway to a point
opposite McCarthy Road; then easterly along the northern
boundary of McCarthy Road to Wilson Road; then northerly
along the western side of Wilson Road to its junction with
Wilson’s Crossing Road; then easterly along Wilson’s Cross-
ing Road to a point opposite McCallum’s Road; then north-
erly along the western side of McCallum’s Road to the North-
east corner of part Lot 2, D.P. 538, Block IX, New River
Hundred; then westerly along the northern boundary of the
said part Lot 2 to a point opposite the Lochiel-Branxholme
Highway; then in a north-easterly direction along the western
side of the said highway to the intersection with Forbes Road;
then easterly along the northern side of Forbes Road to the
Invercargill-Kingston Railway; then northerly along the
western side of the said railway to a point opposite the south-
west corner of Section 42, Block IX, New River Hundred,
then easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section
42 and continuing easterly along the southern boundary of
Section 19 to its south-east corner; then northerly along the
eastern boundaries of Sections 19, 18, and part 17, to the
Browns Main Highway; then easterly along the said highway
to the eastern boundary of Block I, Winton Hundred; then
northerly along the eastern boundary of the said Block I to
its junction with the southern boundary of Block III, Winton
Hundred; then easterly along the southern boundary of
Block III to the south-east corner of Section 57, Block III,
Winton Hundred; then generally northerly along the eastern
boundaries of Sections 57, 4, 3, 2, 1, and Section 50, to the
Winton-Mataura Main Highway; then westerly along the
said highway to the north-west corner of Section 9, Block VIII,
Town of East Winton; then southerly along the western
boundaries of Sections 9 to 19 inclusive to a point opposite
the northern boundary of Section 22, Block VII, Town of East
Winton; then westerly along the northern boundaries of
Sections 22 and 27 to the Invercargill-Kingston Railway; then
southerly along the western boundary of the railway reserve
to its junction with the Invercargill-Queenstown Highway and
continuing south along the said highway to its intersection
with the Thomson’s Crossing West Road; then westerly along
the southern boundary of the said road to the north-west
corner of Section 19, Block I, Winton Hundred; then south-
erly along the western boundaries of Sections 19 to 23 inclusive
and Lot 1 of D.P. 4541 to the Lochiel-Northope Main High-
way; then westerly along the southern boundary of the said
highway to the north-west corner of Block IX, New River
Hundred; then southerly along the said Block boundary to
Forbes Road; then westerly along Forbes Road to the eastern
bank of the Oreti River; then generally southerly along the
eastern bank of the Oreti River including the island containing
parts Sections 2, 3, 4, and 5, Block XIV, New River Hundred,
to the point of commencement.

Under the Regulations Act 1936, statutory regulations of
general legislative force are no longer published in the New
Zealand Gazette, but are supplied under any one or more of

(2) Annual volume (including index) bound in buckram,
35s. per volume. (Volumes for years 1936–37 and
1939–42 are out of print.)
