Declaring Areas to be Access Lanes for the Purposes of the Motor Launch Regulations 1958

PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1958, the Minister of Marine hereby declares that for two years from the date hereof, subject to compliance with the conditions set out in the Second Schedule hereto, the areas of water described in the First Schedule hereto shall be access lanes and that within such lanes regulations 9 and 10 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1958 shall not apply.

FIRST SCHEDULE

FIRSTLY, all the waters of Lake Te Anau at Bluegum Point within 200 yards of the shore bounded by lines whose shore ends are 100 yards apart, the eastern boundary commencing 1 chain westward of the western side of the boat harbour entrance and extending in a 194° 20′ true direction and the north-western boundary extending in a 252° 30′ true direction.

Secondly, all the waters of Lake Te Anau at Brod’s Bay within 200 yards of the shore bounded by parallel lines 150 yards apart extending in a 46° true direction, the eastern boundary commencing where the western bank of Ernie’s Creek touches the shore.

Thirdly, all the waters of Lake Te Anau at Dock Bay within 200 yards of the shore bounded by parallel lines 150 yards apart extending in a 165° true direction, the eastern boundary commencing at a point on the lake shore in line with the remains of the old jetty.

SECOND SCHEDULE

EACH of the boundaries outlined in the First Schedule shall be marked as follows:

(a) A brightly painted marker buoy shall be moored at a distance of 50 yards from the edge of the water;

(b) At the edge of the lake at normal lake level there shall be placed a notice board measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft painted white with black letters, which shall contain the following notice:

“NOTICE
Motor Launch Regulations 1958
Access lane extends 200 yards into lake through which motor launches and water skiers may pass at speeds greater than 5 miles per hour.

BATHERS KEEP OUT.”

Boundaries of County of Coromandel and Whenuakite Riding of County of Coromandel and County of Thames and Tairua Riding of County of Thames Defined

PURSUANT to section 16 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of County of Coromandel and Whenuakite Riding of that county and County of Thames and Tairua Riding of that county, the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made on the 17th day of May 1961 and published in Gazette, 18 May 1961, No. 33, page 705.

SCHEDULE

COUNTY OF COROMANDEL

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing in the middle of the mouth of the Waikawau River in Block VI, Hastings Survey District; then northerly generally along the eastern shores of the Firth of Thames and the Hauraki Gulf to and south-easterly generally along the shores of the South Pacific Ocean to the easternmost corner of part Te Karo Block (State forest, Gazette, 1928, page 3121) in Block X, Whitianga Survey District; then westerly generally along the southern boundary of the aforesaid part Te Karo Block and that southern boundary produced across State Highway No. 25, to and north-westerly generally along the western side of that State highway, to and along the generally southern boundary of the aforesaid part Te Karo Block, to and south-westerly generally along the south-eastern side of a public road forming the north-western boundaries of part Willis Grant, shown on D.P. 1477, and Sections 5, 6, 7, and 8, Block IX, Whitianga Survey District, to and southerly generally along the generally eastern boundary of Section 18, Block IX aforesaid, to and along the generally northern boundary of Section 19, Block IX aforesaid, to its easternmost corner; then westerly generally along the generally northern boundary of Section 2, Block IX aforesaid, along the south-western boundary of part Whenuakite 2, as shown on D.P. 1726, and the last-named boundary produced to and down the middle of the Awahau Stream and the Parakau River to a point in line with the northern boundary of the aforesaid Whenuakite 2; then westerly along a right line to the intersection of the north-eastern boundary of Wharepapa Block and the middle of the Kapowai River in Block VIII, Whitianga Survey District; then up the middle of the aforesaid Kapowai River to a point in line with the southern boundary of the aforesaid Wharepapa Block; then along a right line to and along the aforesaid southern boundary, along the southern boundary of Kahuwera Block, to and along the north-eastern, eastern, and south-eastern boundaries of Section 9, Block VII, Whitianga Survey District, along the generally south-eastern boundaries of Section 8, Block VII, the north-western boundary of Te Tipi Block (State forest, Gazette, 1911, page 702) and the northern boundary of Section 1, Block XI, Whitianga Survey District, to and down the middle of Starvation Stream, to and down the middle of Rangihau Stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of the said Section 1; then along a right line to and along the generally northern boundary of the said Section 1, and Section 1, Block XVI, Hastings Survey District, to and along the eastern and northern boundaries of Section 3, Block XIII, Hastings Survey District, and the last-mentioned boundary produced to and down the middle of the Waiwawa River to the intersection with a right line produced easterly and joining the easternmost corner of Section 1, Block VII, Hastings Survey District, and the southernmost corner of Section 20, Block IV, Whitianga Survey District; then along that right line to and down the middle of the aforesaid Waikawau River to the point of commencement.

WHENUAKITE RIDING, COUNTY OF COROMANDEL

All that area in the Coromandel County bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the eastern boundary of Block VII, Hastings Survey District, with the southern boundary of the County of Coromandel, as hereinbefore described; then northerly and easterly generally along the boundaries of the Coromandel Riding and the Whitianga-Kuaotunu Riding as described in Gazette, 1953, page 1153, and along the shores of the South Pacific Ocean to the easternmost corner of part Te Karo Block (State forest, Gazette, 1928, page 3121) in Block X, Whitianga Survey District; then westerly generally along the southern boundary of the Coromandel County as hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.

COUNTY OF THAMES

All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Waikawau River in Block VI, Hastings Survey District; then easterly generally along the southern boundary of the Coromandel County as hereinbefore described, to and southerly generally along the shores of the South Pacific Ocean, to and up the middle of the Otahu River to its source; then along a right line to the source of the Waipaheke Stream in Block II, Ohinemuri Survey District; then down the middle of the aforesaid stream to and down the middle of the Hikutaia and Waihou Rivers to the shores of the Firth of Thames; then northerly generally along the aforesaid shores to the middle of the mouth of the Waikawau River to the point of commencement, excepting therefrom the Borough of Thames as described in Statutes, 1918, page 264, and Gazette, 1919, page 2479.

TAIRUA RIDING, COUNTY OF THAMES

All that area in the Thames County bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of part Te Karo Block (State forest, Gazette, 1928, page 3121) in Block X, Whitianga Survey District; then southerly generally along the shores of the South Pacific Ocean, to and south-westerly generally along the southern boundary of the Thames County as hereinbefore described to the source of the Waipaheke Stream in Block II, Ohinemuri Survey District; then northerly generally along the summit of the main dividing range (Coromandel Range) through Blocks II and I, Ohinemuri Survey District, Blocks XIII, IX, V, and I, Tairua Survey District, to a point near the source of the Hikuai River, along a right line to its source and down the middle of that river, to and along the western boundary of Blocks XII and VIII, Whitianga Survey District, to the southern boundary of the Coromandel County hereinbefore described; then easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement.
