the Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools Board being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools 1961*:

Provided that:

(a) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clauses 7 and 8 were revoked:

(b) Clause 15 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “or by the Council of a city, borough, or county (or jointly by two or more of such Councils) shall himself be a member of the body (or bodies)” were omitted, and the words “shall himself be a member of that Board” were substituted therefor:

(c) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clause 18 were revoked, and the clause numbered 18 set out in the Schedule hereto were substituted therefor.

SCHEDULE

NEW CLAUSE FOR THE STANDARD SCHEME

  1. Except in the case of a member who may be appointed by the Dunedin City Council or in the case of a casual vacancy, every appointed and elected member shall hold office until the 31st day of May in the third year after the year of his appointment or election, and if on that 31st day of May the appointment or election of his successor has not been notified to the Board, he shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment or election is so notified:

Provided that every appointed or elected member of the Board, other than any member who may be appointed by the Dunedin City Council, who is in office on the 1st day of February 1962, shall hold office until the 31st day of May in the year 1965, whether or not that year is the third year after his appointment or election.

PURSUANT to section 25 of the Rabbits Act 1955, the Minister of Agriculture hereby publishes the following resolution passed by the Tokirima Rabbit Board on the 6th day of December 1961.

“THAT the elective membership of the Tokirima Rabbit Board be increased from six to seven members.”

County of Kaikoura Declared to be an Area in Which Owners of Cattle Shall Submit Their Cattle for Testing with the Tuberculin Test (Notice No. Ag 7470)

PURSUANT to section 7 (6) of the Stock Amendment Act 1958, the Minister of Agriculture hereby declares the County of Kaikoura for the time being constituted, and including all town districts surrounded by or contiguous to the county, to be an area in which every owner of cattle shall, as often as and in such manner as he may be required so to do by the Director-General of Agriculture, submit his cattle for testing with the tuberculin test for the purposes of the said section.

Tariff Notice—Application for Approval of the Minister of Customs

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been made for the classification, by approval of the Minister of Customs, of the under-mentioned goods under item 269 (1) (a) of the Customs Tariff of New Zealand:

Embossed parchment board, 12½ pt, for manufacture of lampshades.

The application will not be dealt with until 8 March 1962 and any person wishing to submit any objection thereto should do so in writing to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, on or before 8 March 1962.

Any such objection should be supported by information as to:

(a) The range of goods manufactured;

(b) The proportions of New Zealand and imported materials used in the manufacture;

(c) Present and potential output; and

(d) Details of factory costs in terms of materials, labour, overhead, etc.

Tariff Notice—Application for Determination by the Minister of Customs

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has been made for the classification, by determination of the Minister of Customs, of the under-mentioned goods under item 376 (7) (a) of the Customs Tariff of New Zealand:

(a) Chain or diamond mesh netting.

(b) Fabricated field fence, viz., sheep and pig netting, boundary fencing, etc.

The application will not be dealt with until 8 March 1962 and any person wishing to submit any objection thereto should do so in writing to the Comptroller of Customs, Private Bag, Wellington, on or before 8 March 1962.

Any such objection should be supported by:

(a) Information as to whether suitably equivalent goods are available or can be produced in New Zealand; and

(b) Details of landed cost and selling price, including c.d.v., and cost into store in terms of f.o.b., insurance, freight, exchange, other landing charges, and duty.

PURSUANT to regulation 3 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1955,* the Commissioner of Transport hereby revokes so much of the Warrant dated the 26th day of June 1950† as relates to the road described in the Schedule hereto and formerly known as the Wanganui River (Left Bank) Main Highway No. 559, and hereby approves the Wanganui County Council’s proposed classification of the said road as set out in the said Schedule.

Reserve Bank of New Zealand

———

PURSUANT to section 45 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933 (as amended by section 23 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Amendment Act 1936), the Governor of the Reserve Bank, acting with the authority of the Minister of Finance, hereby gives notice that, as from 20 February 1962, the balance to be maintained in the Reserve Bank by each other bank for the time being carrying on business in New Zealand in accordance with the said section 45 shall be such that, when added to that bank’s holding of Reserve Bank notes, it shall be equal to not less than 39 per cent of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, plus 10 per cent of its time liabilities in New Zealand, as shown in the last preceding monthly return furnished by that bank in accordance with section 46 of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Act 1933:

Provided that the minimum balance to be maintained at the Reserve Bank shall not be less than 7 per cent of its demand liabilities in New Zealand, plus 3 per cent of its time liabilities in New Zealand.

For the purpose of this calculation a bank’s holding of Reserve Bank notes shall be as shown in the latest available weekly return provided under the Statistics Act 1955.
