A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to subsection (6) of section 5 of the Education
Lands Act 1949, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the
Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim and
declare that the lands described in the First and Second
Schedules hereto, being areas vested in the Wellington Educa-
tion Board, and the land described in the Third Schedule
hereto being an area vested in the Otago Education Board
as sites for public schools, shall be vested in Her Majesty
the Queen, freed and discharged from every educational trust
affecting the same, but subject to all leases, encumbrances,
liens, or easements affecting the same at the date hereof.

of the said Act.

*Declaring Land in the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatisation District
to be a Wildlife Sanctuary*

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Charles John, Viscount
Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby
proclaim and declare the area of land described in the Schedule
hereto to be a wildlife sanctuary under the name of the Holt
Forest Wildlife Sanctuary (hereinafter referred to as the sanc-
tuary) for the purpose of the said Wildlife Act 1953, and
further declare that the following conditions shall apply to
the said sanctuary.
1. No person shall enter on the sanctuary or bring onto the
sanctuary any domestic animal or domestic bird or any vehicle
otherwise than in accordance with any rules or bylaws in that
behalf made by the trustees of the sanctuary.
2. No person shall hunt or kill or disturb, molest, worry,
harry, or otherwise interfere with any living creature within the
sanctuary or take or capture any such living creature or take,
destroy, disturb, or otherwise interfere with the nest, eggs, or
spawn of any such living creature except pursuant to a written
authority in that behalf issued by the Secretary for Internal
Affairs and subject to such conditions as may be specified in
such authority.
3. No person shall introduce into the sanctuary or liberate
or allow to go at large within the sanctuary any living crea-
ture, or the eggs or spawn or any living creature, except pur-
suant to a written authority in that behalf issued by the
Secretary for Internal Affairs and subject to such conditions
as may be specified in such authority.
4. No person shall introduce or plant in the sanctuary any
vegetation of any description or the seeds or spores of any
vegetation, and no person shall burn or clear by any means
whatsoever any vegetation except pursuant to a written
authority in that behalf issued by the Director-General of
Forests and subject to such conditions as may be specified in
such authority.
5. No person shall camp on any part of the sanctuary or
light fires or do anything likely to cause a fire within the
sanctuary otherwise than in accordance with any rules or by-
laws in that behalf made by the trustees of the sanctuary or
pursuant to a written authority as described in clause 4 hereof.
6. No person shall bring into the sanctuary or any part
thereof any firearm or explosive or use or discharge any fire-
arm or explosive within the sanctuary except where the use
of such firearm or explosive is authorised by the trustees of
the sanctuary in consultation with the Secretary for Internal
Affairs and the Director-General of Forests.
7. No person shall deposit any rubbish or leave any litter in
the sanctuary.
8. Nothing in the foregoing shall apply to the following
classes of persons:
(a) Officers of the Department of Internal Affairs while
carrying out any work authorised by the Secretary
for Internal Affairs;
(b) Officers of the New Zealand Forest Service while carry-
ing out any work authorised by the Director-General
of Forests;
(c) The trustees of the sanctuary.
9. The Secretary for Internal Affairs is hereby authorised to
grant exemptions to any person or persons from all or any of
the prohibitions or restrictions heretofore set out subject to
such terms and conditions as he thinks fit.
10. In this Proclamation the term “Trustees of the Sanctuary”
means the persons for the time being appointed as members
of the Board of Trustees of the sanctuary pursuant to the
Deed of Trust dated the 26th day of August 1960 vesting the
land in the Board for the purposes of a sanctuary.
