BOUNDARIES OF THE SOUTH ASHBURTON RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Ashburton
County and Borough of Ashburton, containing 774,600 acres,
more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on
the sea coast in the middle of the Rakaia River and proceed-
ing north-westerly up the middle of the main stream of that
river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of
Rural Section 36983, Block VI, Hutt Survey District; thence
south-westerly to and along that boundary and its production
to the middle of Double Hill Road; thence north-westerly along
the middle of that road to a point in line with the southern
boundary of Rural Section 33501; thence westerly to and
along that boundary to the eastern boundary of Run 277
"Mount Hutt"; thence southerly generally along the generally
eastern boundary of that run to its southernmost corner;
then ce south-westerly generally along the generally south-
eastern boundary of Rural Section 36497 and the south-eastern
boundary of Rural Section 32444 and its production to the
middle of McLennans Bush Road; thence north-westerly along
the middle of that road to a point in line with the south-
eastern boundary of Rural Section 30917; thence south-
westerly and north-westerly to and along the south-eastern
and south-western boundary of that section to the south-
eastern boundary of Reserve 2713; thence south-westerly
along that boundary and its production to the middle of
Pudding Hill Stream; thence south-easterly down the middle
of that stream to a point in line with the middle of a road
passing through Reserve 1116, Block I, Spaxton Survey
District; thence south-westerly to and along the middle of that
road to the middle of the north branch of the Ashburton
River; thence north-westerly up the middle of that river to a
point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Reserve 3825,
Block I, Spaxton Survey District; thence south-westerly to
and along that boundary to the southernmost corner of that
reserve; thence south-easterly along the south-western
boundaries of Rural Sections 32166, 36383, 4068, and 5159 to
the south-eastern corner of Rural Section 36413; thence
westerly, northerly, and westerly along the southern, western,
and again southern boundaries of Rural Section 36413 to
the eastern boundary of Rural Section 36416; thence
southerly, south-westerly, and north-westerly along the east-
ern, south-eastern, and south western boundaries of that
section to the easternmost corner of Rural Section 36415;
then ce westerly along the southern boundary of that section
to the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 20420; thence
north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of Rural
Sections 20420, 21246, and 32258 to the northernmost corner
of the last-mentioned section; thence south-westerly along the
north-western boundaries of Rural Sections 32258 and 29899,
across Taylors Stream to and along the north-western boundary
of Rural Section 21739 and its production to the middle of
a road forming the south-western boundary of the said section;
then ce south-easterly along the middle of that road, passing
through Rural Section 20237 to and along the middle of
Winterslow Road, to the middle of Greens Road; thence
south-westerly generally along the middle of that road to
Gundrys Road; thence along a right line to the eastern-
most corner of Section 4, Wairere Settlement; thence westerly
generally along the generally southern boundary of Wairere
Settlement (S.O. Plan 5592) to a point in line with the
north-western boundary of Rural Section 21492; thence south-
westerly to and along that boundary to the eastern boundary
of Rural Section 37798; thence north-westerly along the
north-eastern boundary of that section to the eastern boundary
of Run 103; thence south-westerly generally along the generally
south-eastern boundary of that run and its production to the
middle of Lambies Road; thence south-easterly along the
middle of Lambies Road to the middle of a road forming
the north-western boundaries of Rural Sections 22638, 26796,
24053, and 18246; thence south-westerly along the middle of
that road to the middle of Peaches Road; thence north-
westerly along the middle of that road to a road forming the
south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 23095 and the
eastern boundary of Rural Section 36190; thence south-
westerly generally along that road to the middle of Ash-
burton Gorge Road; thence north-westerly along the middle
of that road to the middle of Woolshed Creek; thence south-
easterly down the middle of that creek to the middle of the
south branch of the Ashburton River; thence north-westerly
up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western
boundary of Rural Section 21105; thence southerly to and
along that boundary and the western and south-western
boundary of Rural Section 24688 to the north-western
boundary of Rural Section 23137; thence south-westerly along
that boundary and its production to the middle of the north
branch of the Hinds River; thence north-westerly up the middle
of that river to a point in line with the northern boundary of
part Lot 2, D.P. 1393; thence westerly and southerly to and
along the northern and western boundaries of that lot and its
production to the middle of Upper Downs Road; thence
continuing southerly along the middle of Upper Downs Road
to the middle of the south branch of the Hinds River; thence
north-westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line
with the south-eastern boundary of Run 107; thence south-
westerly generally to and along the general south-eastern
boundary of that run and its production to the middle of
the Rangitata River; thence south-easterly generally down the
middle of that river to the middle of Arundel Road; thence
easterly along the middle of that road to the middle of
Rangitata River Road; thence south-easterly generally along
the middle lines of that road, Ealing Coldstream Road, Hinds
Rangitata Mouth Road, and the production of the last middle
line to the south-eastern side of Lower Beach Road; thence
along a right line to the northernmost corner of Rural
Section 32552; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern
boundary of that section and its production to the sea coast;
then ce north-easterly along the sea coast to the point of
commencement.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 4th day of

THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the
Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
- (1) This order may be cited as the Ashburton Gorge
Rabbit District Order 1961.
(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the
date of its notification in the Gazette. - The boundaries of the Ashburton Gorge Rabbit District,
which was constituted by Order in Council on the 9th day
of February 1949,* are hereby altered and redefined and, as
from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the
said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE ASHBURTON GORGE RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Ashburton
County, containing 471,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a
line commencing at Whitcombe Pass on the Main Divide
and proceeding southerly to and along the middle of Louper
Stream to the middle of the Rakaia River; thence easterly
along the middle of that river to a point in line with the
western boundary of Run 117 (Upper Lake Heron); thence
southerly generally to and along that boundary to the
middle of the Cameron River; thence south-easterly along
the middle of that river to the shore of Lake Heron; thence
south-easterly generally along the northern and eastern shores
of that lake to the south-western boundary of Run 117
aforesaid; thence south-easterly along that boundary to the
southernmost corner of the said Run; thence north-easterly
along the south-eastern boundary of Run 118A to the summit
of Taylor Range; thence southerly along the summit of that
range to Mount Taylor; thence easterly to and along the
middle of Boundary Creek to the middle of the north branch
of the Ashburton River; thence south-easterly along the
middle of that river to a point in line with the south-
eastern boundary of Reserve 3825, Block I, Spaxton Survey
District; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary to
the southernmost corner of that reserve; thence south-easterly
along the south-western boundaries of Rural Sections 32166,
36383, 4068, and 5159 to the south-eastern corner of Rural
Section 36413; thence westerly, northerly, and westerly along
the southern, western, and again southern boundaries of
Rural Section 36413 to the eastern boundary of Rural Section
36416; thence southerly, south-westerly, and north-westerly
along the eastern, south-eastern, and south-western boundaries
of that section to the easternmost corner of Rural Section
36415; thence westerly along the southern boundary of that
section to the north-eastern boundary of Rural Section 20420;

corner of the last-mentioned section; thence south-westerly
along the north-western boundaries of Rural Section 32258
