Declaring the Oreti, Winton, Otapiri, Hokonui, and Lochiel Rabbit Districts to be United to Form the Central Southland Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 7449)

Present:
THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the Oreti Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 5th day of June 1957,* the Winton Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 1st day of August 1956,† the Otapiri Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 17th day of October 1951,‡ the Hokonui Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 19th day of May 1948,§ and the Lochiel Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 27th day of September 1921,∥ to be united and to form one district having the name of the Central Southland Rabbit District, the boundaries of which shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto:

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE CENTRAL SOUTHLAND RABBIT DISTRICT

All that area in the Southland Land District containing by estimation 300,240 acres, more or less, inclusive of roads, railways, and streams and bounded by a line commencing at a point on the left bank of the Aparima River in line with the northern side of Gladfield Road, Block XIII, Oreti Hundred; thence north-easterly generally along that left bank of the Aparima River to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 941, Block XXXI, Taringatura Survey District; thence easterly to and along the northern boundaries of the said Lot 5 and Section 460, Block XXXI aforesaid, to the western side of Avondale Road; thence southerly generally along the western side of Avondale Road to a point in line with the southern side of Dunearn Road; thence easterly generally to and along the generally southerly sides of Dunearn Road; Harbour Endowment Road, Hishon Road, and a public road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 3s, Fern Hill Settlement; thence easterly to and along that southern boundary and its production to the right bank of Oreti River; thence northerly generally along that right bank to a point in line with the south side of the Benmore-Stockbridge Road, Block XXXIV, Taringatura Survey District; thence easterly by a right line to and along the south side of the Benmore-Stockbridge road, Block XXXIII, Hokonui Survey District, to the western side of the No. 6 State Highway; thence southerly along that side to a point in line with the southern side of the Benmore-Otapiri road; thence easterly and southerly to and along the southern and western sides of that road to a point in line with the southern side of Matthews Road; thence easterly to and along that side to the right bank of the Winton Stream; thence north-easterly generally along that right bank to the north-western side of a public road forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 577, Block XXIV, Hokonui Survey District; thence north-easterly generally along that side to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 795, Block XXV, Hokonui Survey District; thence south-easterly and southerly to and along the north-eastern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 795 to the northern boundary of Run 550; thence south-easterly generally along that northern and the north-eastern boundaries of Run 550 to the right bank of the Otamita Stream, Block XLVI, Hokonui Survey District; thence south-easterly generally along that right bank to the southern boundary of Section 448, Block XLVII; thence westerly along that boundary and the southern boundary of Section 1004, Block XLVII aforesaid, to the eastern boundary of Block LXIII, Hokonui Survey District; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of Block LXIII aforesaid to the western boundary of Run 494, Block XVII, Forest Hill Hundred; thence southerly along the western boundaries of the said Run 494 and the Invercargill Water-supply Reserve, Blocks XVII and XI, Forest Hill Hundred, to the southern boundary of the said Block XI; thence easterly along that southern boundary to the western boundary of Section 134, Block X, Forest Hill Hundred; thence southerly along that western boundary to the northern boundary of Section 215, Block X aforesaid; thence westerly along that boundary to the eastern boundary of Block IX, Forest Hill Hundred; thence south-westerly generally along the eastern and southern boundaries of Block IX aforesaid to the southern boundary of Section 323, Block V, Forest Hill Hundred; thence westerly generally along that boundary and the southern boundary of Section 194 and 193, Block V aforesaid, and that boundary produced to the left bank of the Makarewa River; thence south-westerly generally along that left bank to the eastern side of the Kingston Branch Railway; thence north-westerly generally along that eastern side and the northern side of the Tuatapere Branch Railway to the right bank of the Oreti River; thence south-westerly generally along that right bank to the south side of the No. 99 State Highway; thence north-westerly generally along that side to the left bank of the Waimatuku

Stream; thence north-westerly generally along that left bank to the eastern side of the Winton-Otautau road; thence north-westerly generally along the eastern and northern sides of that road, Allison Road, and Gladfield Road and the last-mentioned side produced to the point of commencement.

Pursuant to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the Otatara-Wallacetown Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 9th day of July 1941*, and the Awarua Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 26th day of October 1960†, to be united and to form one district having the name of the Awarua Rabbit District, the boundaries of which shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto:

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE AWARUA RABBIT DISTRICT

All that area in the Southland Land District containing by estimation 363,040 acres more or less, inclusive of roads, railways, and streams, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of the eastern side of the Kingston Branch Railway with the left bank of the Makarewa River, Block XIII, Invercargill Hundred, and proceeding easterly generally along the left bank of the Makarewa River, the left bank of the Hedgehope Stream, and the left bank of the Titipua Stream to the eastern boundary of Section 56, Block V, Lindhurst Hundred; thence southerly along that boundary to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 57, Block V aforesaid; thence easterly generally along that boundary, the north-western side of the Te Tipua Valley Road, and the northern side of the Glencoe-Brydone road to the western side of the No. 1 State Highway; thence northerly along that side to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 24E, Edendale Settlement; thence easterly to and along that boundary and its production to the right bank of the Mataura River; thence southerly generally along that bank to its junction with the right bank of the old course at Mataura Island; thence southerly generally along that bank and the present right bank of the Mataura River to the sea coast; thence westerly along the sea coast to the Bluff Harbour at Tiwai Point; thence northerly along the shore of the Bluff Harbour, easterly, northerly, and westerly along the shore of Awarua Bay, and northerly, westerly, and southerly along the shore of the Bluff Harbour to the sea coast at Stirling Point; thence westerly and north-westerly generally along the sea coast to the westernmost boundary of Section 70, Block V, Campbelltown Hundred; thence north-easterly generally along the northern boundary of the Section 70 aforesaid to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 5, Block XXIII, New River Hundred; thence northerly by a right line to and along the said western boundary of Section 5 to the sea coast; thence north-westerly and north-easterly generally along the sea coast and the left bank of the Waimatuku Stream to the southern side of No. 99 State Highway; thence south-easterly generally along the southern side of said State highway to the right bank of the Oreti River; thence northerly generally along that bank to the northern side of the Tuatapere Branch Railway; thence south-easterly generally along that northern side and the eastern side of the Kingston Branch Railway to the point of commencement.
