and sections 4, 5, and 6, Block I, Mokoreta Survey District,
and easterly along the northern boundary of Section 22A,
Block I, Mokoreta Survey District, to the north-eastern
corner of the said Section 22A; thence northerly and north-
easterly generally along the western and north-western
boundaries of Lot 7, D.P. 3410, to the southern boundary of
Slopedown Survey District; thence easterly along that southern
boundary to the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 3410;
thence easterly generally along the western and southern
boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 3410, and Lot 3, D.P. 3412, to
the western boundary of Rimu Survey District; thence
southerly along the western boundary of the said Rimu Survey
District to the north-eastern boundary of Lot 6, D.P. 3411;
thence north-westerly, south-westerly, and south-easterly along
the north-eastern, north-western, and south-western boundaries
of Lot 6 aforesaid to the south-eastern corner thereof;

the eastern and north-eastern boundaries of the said Run 74,

Section 17, Block XI, Wyndham Survey District, to the
eastern boundary of Section 37A, Glenham Settlement, Block
XI, Wyndham Survey District; thence northerly generally
along the eastern boundary of the said Section 37A, and the
production of that boundary to the right bank of the
Wyndham (Mokoreta) River; thence north-westerly gene-
rally along that right bank to the north-western side of the
Wyndham-Letterbox road; thence south-westerly along that
north-western side, and that line produced to the right bank
of the Wyndham (Mokoreta) River; thence south-westerly
along that right bank to the confluence of the Wydnham
(Mokoreta) and Mataura Rivers; thence due west to the right
bank of the Mataura River; thence northerly generally along
that right bank to a point in line with the southern boundary
of the Town of Mataura Bridge; thence easterly and northerly
along the southern and eastern boundaries of the Town of
Mataura Bridge and the production of the last-mentioned
boundary to the point of commencement.

Substitution of a Commissioner on the Royal Commission to
Inquire Into and Report Upon State Services in New
Zealand

of the Faith:
To Our Trusty and Well-beloved the Honourable THADDEUS
PEARCEY McCARTHY, a Judge of the Supreme Court of
New Zealand; MATTHEW OLIVER BARNETT, Esquire, of
Wellington, Solicitor and Company Director; CLIFFORD
ULRIC PLIMMER, Esquire, of Wellington, Company
Director; JOHN TURNBULL, Esquire, of Wellington, Retired
Secretary; and RALPH HERBERT BROOKES, Esquire, of
Wellington, University Senior Lecturer:
GREETING:
WHEREAS by Our Commission issued on the 6th day of July
1961,* We constituted and appointed you, the said the
Honourable THADDEUS PEARCEY McCARTHY, MATTHEW OLIVER
BARNETT, CLIFFORD ULRIC PLIMMER, and JOHN TURNBULL,
and also KENNETH JOHN SCOTT, Esquire of Wellington,
University Professor, to be a Commission to receive repre-
sentations upon, inquire into, investigate, and report upon
State Services in New Zealand:
And whereas the said KENNETH JOHN SCOTT died on the
19th day of July 1961, and it is desirable to appoint in his
stead a member of the Commission so constituted:
NOW, Know Ye, that We, reposing trust and confidence in
your integrity, knowledge, and ability, do hereby appoint you,
the said
RALPH HERBERT BROOKES
to be a member of the said Commission in the stead of the
said KENNETH JOHN SCOTT:
And it is hereby declared that all acts and things done
and decisions made by the said Commission or any of its
members, in the exercise of its powers, before the issuing
of these presents, shall be deemed to have been made and
done by the said Commission as reconstituted by these
presents, and as if you, the said RALPH HERBERT BROOKES, had
originally been appointed to be a member in the place and
stead of the said KENNETH JOHN SCOTT:
And We hereby confirm Our Commission issued on the
6th day of July 1961 save as modified by these presents:
And lastly, it is hereby declared that these presents are
issued under the authority of the Letters Patent of His late
Majesty King George the Fifth, dated the 11th day of May
1917, and under the authority of and subject to the provisions
of the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908, and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand.
In witness whereof We have caused this Our Commission
to be issued and the Seal of New Zealand to be hereunto
affixed at Wellington this 2nd day of August 1961.
Witness Our Right Trusty and Well-beloved Cousin, Charles
John, Viscount Cobham, Knight Grand Cross of the
Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, upon whom has been conferred the Territorial
Decoration, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief

Exempting Land in the Otago Land District from the Operation
of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925
COBHAM, Governor-General
PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the
Governor-General hereby gives the following notice:
NOTICE
THE land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted
from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
ALL that parcel of land containing 1 rood, more or less, situated
in the Borough of Kaitangata, being Section 3, Block
LXXIII, Town of Kaitangata, and being the whole of the land
in certificate of title, Volume 438, folio 44 (Dunedin Land
Registry).
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General this 25th day of July 1961.
