TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1953

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF BOROUGH OF RICCARTON DISTRICT SCHEME

Public notice is hereby given that, pursuant to a resolution of the Council made on the 24th day of April 1961, a district scheme has been recommended for approval under the Town and Country Planning Act 1953. The scheme relates to the Borough of Riccarton. The scheme has been deposited in the Borough Council Office, 189 Clarence Street, Riccarton, the Riccarton Public Library, 189 Clarence Street, Riccarton, the Riccarton Post Office, corner of Riccarton Road and Rimu Street, Riccarton, the Addington Post Office, 330 Lincoln Road, Addington, and at the office of the District Land Registrar, Worcester Street, Christchurch, in accordance with section 22 (1) of that Act, and is there open for inspection, without fee, to all persons interested therein at any time when the above places are open to the public.

Objections to the scheme or to any part thereof shall be in writing in form E prescribed in the First Schedule to the Town and Country Planning Regulations 1960, and shall be lodged at the office of the Council at any time not later than the 8th day of September 1961. At a later date every objection will be open for public inspection, and any person who wishes to support or oppose any objection will be entitled to be heard at the hearing of objections if he notifies the Town Clerk in writing within the period of which public notice will be given.

THE MINING ACT 1926

Notice is hereby given that Francis Alexander Kinney has applied to the Warden of the Otago Mining District for a licence for a water race for three heads of water for irrigation and stock-watering purposes commencing at a point in Tinwald Burn 11 chains west of the Cromwell-Wanaka State Highway running thence through unoccupied Crown land, Section 5, Block II, Tarras, in a south-easterly direction a distance of 104 yards and there entering the Ministry of Works race running thence in that race through said Section 5 and unoccupied Crown land, Section 9, Block II, Tarras, a distance of 240 yards passing under the said highway by means of a culvert and terminating on Section 18, Block II, Tarras, occupied by the applicant.

The application will be heard on Wednesday, 19 July 1961, at 10 a.m., at the Warden’s Court, Cromwell. Objections must be filed in the Registrar’s office and notified to the applicant at least three days before the time so appointed.

FRIENDLY SOCIETIES ACT 1909

ADVERTISMENT OF CANCELLING

Notice is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly Societies has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly Societies Act 1909, by writing under his hand this 19th day of May 1961, cancelled the registry of Tolaga Bay Lodge, No. 155, of the Independent Order of Oddfellows of New Zealand, Friendly Society (Register No. 146/241), held at Tolaga Bay, on the ground that the said branch has ceased to exist.

MARAMARUA HUNT (INC.) RESOLUTION

At a special general meeting of the Maramarua Hunt (Inc.) held on the 20th day of March 1961 at Maramarua, it was duly resolved as follows:

“In pursuance and exercise of the powers under section 33 of the Gaming Act 1908, it is hereby resolved that the regulations dated the 7th day of December 1948 are hereby revoked and in lieu thereof the following regulations shall be regulations under the said section 33 controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club property situated in the district of Ohinemuri and known as the Paeroa Racecourse or to any other racecourse used or occupied by the Club for race meetings.”

MARAMARUA HUNT (INC.) REGULATIONS
(Under the Gaming Act 1908)

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the Gazette.
  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act 1908.
  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described or any other racecourse while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:
    (a) Bookmakers.
    (b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and book-makers’ agents.
    (c) All persons under disqualification imposed under the New Zealand rules of racing or the New Zealand rules of trotting or by the racing or trotting authorities in any country outside New Zealand which have reciprocal agreements in matters of racing or trotting with the New Zealand Racing Conference or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.
    (d) Common prostitutes, idle and disorderly persons within the meaning of the Police Offences Act 1927.
    (e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house breaking, burglary, or pocket picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act 1908, and persons convicted under the Police Offences Act 1927 of conversion or attempted conversion of a motorcar or other vehicle or of being idle and disorderly persons or of being a rogue and vagabond and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act 1908, or persons having a criminal record in countries outside New Zealand and the references to the foregoing Acts shall be deemed to apply to any subsequent Act consolidating or in substitution therefor.

Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to the character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.
