Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the person described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise him, while he is under the age of 18 years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Revoking an Exclusion from Speed Limitation

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

That so much of the Warrant under section 3 of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 1936, dated the 20th day of December 1937,* as relates to the road described in the Schedule hereto and situated in Mataura Borough is hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Mataura Borough: No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) referred to in the said Warrant as the Dunedin-Invercargill Main Highway No. 101 (from a point 8 chains measured south-westerly generally along the said State highway from Albion Street to the southern boundary of Mataura Borough).

Notice Prescribing Colours of Registration Plate and Declaring Registration Plates to be Licences

PURSUANT to regulation 8 (2) of the Motor Vehicles Registration and Licensing Regulations 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes the notice dated the 4th day of May 1960* prescribing colours for registration plates, and hereby declares that, in respect of the licensing year commencing on the 1st day of July 1961 and any licence year thereafter, the distinguishing marks on learners’ registration plates for motor cycles shall be embossed and coloured black on a white background, and the distinguishing marks for all other registration plates shall be embossed and coloured black on a yellow background, and that registration plates (other than learners’ registration plates for motor cycles) shall be deemed for the purposes of the Transport Act 1949 and for the purposes of the said regulations to be a licence to use the respective motor vehicles in the licensing year commencing on the 1st day of July 1961.
