Appointment of Members of Kurow Domain Board

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby appoints

Ronald George Duffy,
Alistair Seaforth MacKenzie, and
David Christopher Page

to be members of the Kurow Domain Board, Otago Land District, in place of James Fyfe, Donald Lane Matheson, and Robert John Mercer, all resigned, and further increases the total number of members of the said Domain Board from six to nine, and appoints

Bryan Henry Price,
Frederick Albert Smith, and
Willis George Gerald Warwick

as the additional members of the Board.

Extending a Limited Speed Zone

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That the Warrant under regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956†, dated the 28th day of November 1957*, which relates to that portion of the No. 2 State Highway (Pokeno-Wellington via Gisborne) formerly known as the Western Hutt State Highway No. 94 in Hutt County is hereby revoked.

  2. The road specified in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Hutt County adjacent to Lower Hutt City:

That portion of the No. 2 State Highway (Pokeno-Wellington via Gisborne) from a point 24 chains north-east of its junction with Tirohanga Road to a point 33 chains measured in a north-easterly direction from the junction of the said State highway with Gurney Road.

Revocation of Approval to Issue Warrants of Fitness

PURSUANT to subclause (3) of regulation 52 of the Traffic Regulations 1956, the Minister of Transport hereby revokes the approval of the firm described in the Schedule hereto to issue warrants of fitness for motor vehicles.

Approval of Dual Headlight Systems

PURSUANT to regulation 49 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* the Minister of Transport hereby approves the use of the dual headlight system described in the Schedule hereto, as a compliance with regulation 35 (1) of the said regulations relating to the fitting of headlamps.

SCHEDULE

“LUCAS” dual sealed beam apparatus consisting of two units, each unit incorporating two headlamps embossed with the symbols “1A” and “2A” respectively and having a lens diameter of 5¾ in. When in use all four headlamps shall be illuminated to provide the main beams, and the two headlamps embossed with the symbols “2A” shall be illuminated to provide the dipped beams.

Declaring Area Exempted from Portions of the Motor Launch Regulations 1958

PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1958, the Minister of Marine hereby declares that for two years from the date hereof, on any day between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., subject to compliance with the conditions set out in the Second Schedule hereto, regulations 9 and 10 of the Motor Launch Regulations 1958 shall not apply to the area described in the First Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL the waters of Lake Karapiro within the following boundaries:

(a) Southward of a line drawn from the edge of the lake at the south end of the Maungatautari Bridge to the edge of the lake at the southern head of the entrance to Pine Bay;

(b) Northward of a line drawn in an east-west direction running from the western boundary to the eastern boundary of the lake commencing at a point on the edge of the lake 1½ miles south of the south end of the Maungatautari Bridge;

(c) Westward of a line drawn 3 chains from the edge of the eastern side of the lake contained within the boundaries (a) and (b) above;

Except the area (hereinafter referred to as the swimming area) westward of a line drawn in a north-south direction commencing at the lake end of a fence situated approximately 75 yd north of the Piarere Water Ski Club Clubhouse and extending to the western shore of the lake approximately 160 yd distant.

SECOND SCHEDULE

  1. Each of the boundaries outlined in paragraphs (a) and (b) of the area described in the First Schedule shall be marked as follows:

(a) Brightly painted marker buoys shall be moored one on each side of the lake 3 chains from the edge of the water and one between these two equidistant from them;

(b) At the edge of the lake at normal lake level on the western end of each boundary line there shall be placed a notice board.

  1. At the edge of the lake at normal lake level at the launching ramp in front of the Piarere Water Ski Club Clubhouse there shall be placed a notice board.

  2. The aforesaid notice board shall measure not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft, painted white with black letters, and shall contain the following notice:

“NOTICE

Motor Launch Regulations 1958

No speed restriction for motor launches and water skiers between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. for 1½ miles south of the Maungatautari Bridge except in 3 chain strip along eastern shore and in the buoyed swimming area.”

  1. The boundary of the swimming area described in the First Schedule shall be marked with brightly painted marker buoys each 30 yd apart commencing 30 yd from the lake end of the fence situated approximately 75 yd north of the Piarere Water Ski Club Clubhouse.
