A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 149 of the Public Works Act 1928, I,
Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of
New Zealand, hereby proclaim as stopped the portions of
Government road described in the Schedule hereto, those por-
tions of road being no longer required.

HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT

ALL those portions of Government road situated in Blocks
XV and XI, Waipukurau Survey District, Hawke's Bay R.D.,
described as follows:

Pursuant to the Local Government Commission Act 1953,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes
the following order.

ORDER

1. On and from the 1st day of April 1961, the area
   described in the Schedule hereto is hereby excluded from the
   County of Whakatane and included in the Borough of
   Whakatane.
2. The alteration of the boundaries of the said county and
   the said borough hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have
   been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.

SCHEDULE
AREA EXCLUDED FROM COUNTY OF WHAKATANE AND INCLUDED
IN THE BOROUGH OF WHAKATANE

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Whaka-
tane County, containing 436 acres, more or less, bounded by
a line commencing at a point in Block II, Whakatane Survey
District, being the intersection of the southern side of the
Whakatane-Kutarere road and the eastern side of the Pokeno-
Wellington via Gisborne State Highway No. 2, and proceed-
ing south-easterly along the south-western side of the
Whakatane-Kutarere road to a point 500 links distant from
and measured easterly at right angles to the eastern side of
the said State Highway No. 2; thence southerly generally
along a series of right lines parallel to the said highway to
the intersection with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 3,
D.P. S. 805; thence south-easterly and south-westerly along
the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of the said
Lot 3 to the eastern side of the State Highway No. 2; thence
by a right line across that highway to and along the northern
boundary of Allotment 23, Waimana Parish, and its pro-
duction to the middle of the Whakatane River; thence down
the middle of that river to the intersection with the pro-
duction of the southern side of Bridge Street; thence south-
easterly along a right line to the intersection of the southern
side of Bridge Street with the mean high-water mark of the
right bank of the Whakatane River; thence southerly, easterly,
and northerly generally along the boundary of the Borough of
Whakatane as described in Gazette, 1950, page 1566, to the
point of commencement.

AREAS EXCLUDED FROM COUNTY OF TAURANGA AND INCLUDED
IN BOROUGH OF TAURANGA

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District in Tau-
ranga County containing 1,813 acres, more or less, bounded
by a line commencing in Block VI, Tauranga Survey District,
being the junction of the production northerly of the middle
line of Otumoetai Road with the line of mean high water of
the Tauranga Harbour, and proceeding southerly generally
along the boundary of the Borough of Tauranga as described
in Gazette, 1959, page 1670, to the junction of the middle of
Cambridge Road with the production westerly of the north-
eastern boundary of part Allotment 79, Te Papa Parish,
shown on D.P. 7410, in Block X, Tauranga Survey District;
thence westerly and southerly along a right line to and along
the northern and western boundaries of Allotment 80, Te
Papa Parish, to and westerly along the northern boundary of
Lot 3, D.P. 11768, to and northerly generally along the
generally eastern boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 10920, along
a right line across State Highway No. 2 to and along the
north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 23397, along the north-
western boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 23397, and along the
eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 25114, to and northerly
generally and easterly along the line of mean high water of
the Tauranga Harbour to the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the South Auckland Land District in
Tauranga County containing 188 acres, more or less, bounded
by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of part
Allotment 372, Te Papa Parish, shown on D.P. 216 and con-
tained in certificate of title, Volume 1427, folio 49, in Block
X, Tauranga Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly,
south-easterly, and south-westerly generally along the boun-
dary of the Borough of Tauranga as described in Gazette,
1959, page 1670, to the north-eastern side of Faulkener Street,
being the southernmost corner of Allotment 49, Suburbs of
Tauranga; thence northerly generally along that north-eastern
roadside and its production to and down the middle of the
Kopurererua Stream to a point in line with the southernmost
boundary of Lot 64, D.P. S. 2364; thence along a right line
to and along that southernmost boundary and along the
eastern boundaries of part Lot 2 and Lot 1, D.P. 17807, to
the point of commencement.

tuted an urban fire district by the name of Tuakau Urban
Fire District.
