Cancelling the Appointment of a Member of the Soil
Conservation and Rivers Control Council and Appointing
a Member of That Council


COBHAM, Governor-General

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the 1st day of July 1957, and
published in Gazette, 4 July 1957, Vol. II, p. 1251, Roderick
Alistair Macdonell Braithwaite, Esquire, of Hamilton, secre-
tary, was appointed to be a member of the Soil Conservation
and Rivers Control Council representing borough councils
and town councils:

And whereas the said Roderick Alistair Macdonell Braith-
waite has resigned from membership of the said Council:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 3 of the Soil Conserva-
tion and Rivers Control Act 1941, I, Charles John, Viscount
Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby can-
cel the appointment of the said Roderick Alistair Macdonell
Braithwaite to be a member of the said Council and hereby
appoint

George Alfred Harris, Esquire, of Temuka, retired
farmer,

to be a member of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control
Council representing borough councils and town councils for
a term commencing on 27 October 1960 and terminating on
7 July 1962.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General this 26th day of October 1960.

Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General has been
pleased to approve the following appointments, confirmation

AIR TRAINING CORPS

Appointments

Edmund George Saker, A.F.M., M.A., is granted a commis-
sion in the Air Training Corps in the rank of Flying Officer
with seniority from 15 February 1960, with effect from 15
September 1960.

Charles Stewart Wood is granted a commission in the Air
Training Corps in the rank of Pilot Officer with seniority
from 17 February 1959, with effect from 17 February 1960.

Richard Tornquist, B.SC., is granted a commission in the
Air Training Corps in the rank of Pilot Officer, with seniority
and effect from 7 October 1960.

RESERVE OF AIR FORCE OFFICERS

Extension of Commission

Flying Officer Joseph Gilbert Dillon, LL.B.(N.Z.), LL.M.
(McGILL) (329072), is granted an extension of his commis-
sion until 31 July 1964.

Relinquishment of Appointment of an Officer of the
New Zealand Army


PURSUANT to section 16 of the New Zealand Army Act 1950,
His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the following relinquishment of appointment:

GENERALS’ LIST

Major-General Sir Stephen C. E. Weir, K.B.E., C.B., D.S.O.,
relinquishes the appointment of Chief of the General Staff,
First Military Member of the Army Board, and General
Officer Commanding, N.Z. Division, and remains on strength
of the N.Z. Army in the rank of Major-General whilst
attached to the Prime Minister’s Department and holding the
appointment of Military Adviser to the New Zealand Govern-
ment. Dated 31 August 1960.
