Scheme of Control of Tainui High School
PURSUANT to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the Minister of Education hereby approves of Tainui High School being controlled in accordance with the Standard Scheme of Control for Secondary Schools published in the Gazette of 6 December 1928, Volume III, page 3451:
Provided that:
(a) Clause 7 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “Council of the nearest borough within five miles of the school” were omitted, and the words “Dunedin City Council” were substituted therefor.
(b) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clause 9 were revoked:
(c) Clause 11 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “Such election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1929” were omitted, and the words “The first such election shall be held not later than the first week in the month of May in the year 1961, and such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1963” were substituted therefor:
(d) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if the clause numbered 13A, set out in the Schedule hereto, were inserted after clause 13:
(e) Clause 16 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the words “Borough Council” were omitted, and the words “Dunedin City Council” were substituted therefor:
(f) Clause 19 of the Standard Scheme shall be read as if the reference to the year 1929 were a reference to the year 1963:
(g) The Standard Scheme shall be read as if clause 43 were revoked, and the clause numbered 43 set out in the Schedule hereto were substituted therefor.
SCHEDULE
NEW CLAUSES FOR THE STANDARD SCHEME
13A. (1) In every case where any member is to be elected by the members of the School Committees of the public schools, in accordance with paragraph (e) of clause 2 of the Tainui High School Board of Governors Order 1960, every such member shall be so elected by postal ballot in a manner determined by the Otago Education Board in the case of the first election, and by the Board of the school in the case of any subsequent election.
(2) The first such election shall be held on a date to be specified by the Otago Education Board, and such an election shall be held in the first week of the month of May in the year 1963 and in every alternate year thereafter, or as soon thereafter as may be convenient on a date to be specified by the Board. For the purposes of the first such election the Secretary of the Otago Education Board shall be the returning officer, and for all subsequent elections the Secretary of the Board of Governors shall be the returning officer.
- From time to time as may be necessary the Board shall appoint a Secretary, and shall appoint him or some other person with authority to receive money on the Board’s account. The Board shall forthwith inform the Minister of every such appointment. Where the Principal is appointed Secretary of the Board he shall not receive any additional remuneration in respect of that appointment.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:
A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise him, while he is under the age of 18 years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Extending a 30 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit
PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice that so much of the Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 12th day of September 1952,* as relates to the Mount Wellington Highway in Mount Wellington Borough and described in the Schedule hereto is hereby revoked.

SITUATED within Mount Wellington Borough: The Mount Wellington Highway (from its junction with Aranui Road to the junction of the said Mount Wellington Highway with Panama Road).

Approval of Motor-cycle Safety Helmets in Terms of the Traffic Regulations 1956
PURSUANT to clause (2) of regulation 29 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* the Minister of Transport hereby approves, for the purpose of the said regulation, of the motor-cycle safety helmets of the make and type described in the Schedule hereto.

SAFETY helmets manufactured by Max Cheshire Ltd., Christchurch, and marked “Turret Top N.Z.S.S. 1215”.
