HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a papakainga for the use of the Ngati Mahuta tribe.

Revoking the Vesting of Land in the Alexandra Borough Council for Tree-planting Purposes

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 20th day of July 1960
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by an Order in Council dated the 29th day of January 1929, and published in Gazette, 7 February 1929, Vol. I, page 352, an area of Crown land was vested, subject to the conditions set forth in the said Order in Council, in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the Borough of Alexandra for tree-planting purposes, pursuant to section 20 of the Land Laws Amendment Act 1926:
And whereas it is expedient that the aforesaid Order in Council should be revoked in so far as it relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto:
And whereas the said Alexandra Borough Council has duly consented to such revocation:
Now, therefore, pursuant to subsection 2 of section 20 of the Land Laws Amendment Act 1926, and of every other power and authority enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby revokes the aforesaid Order in Council, dated the 29th day of January 1929, in so far as it relates to the land described in the Schedule hereto.

Exempting Land in Block X, Reefton Survey District, from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925 and Declaring it to be Crown Land

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

The land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.

The said land is hereby declared to be Crown land subject to the Land Act 1948.

SCHEDULE
ALL that parcel of land containing 265 acres 3 roods 34 perches, more or less, being Sections 75, 76, 77, and part Sections 69, 71, 72, and 81, Block X, Reefton Survey District, as shown on the plan lodged in the office of the Mines Department, Head Office, Wellington, under file number 6/4/80.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 18th day of July 1960.

Appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy
PURSUANT to the Navy Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy:
Captain L. P. Bourke, O.B.E., D.S.C. AND BAR, to be placed on the Retired List, to date 19 May 1960.
Captain J. O’C. Ross, to serve as Commodore whilst holding present appointment, to date 19 April 1960.
Commander R. E. Harding, O.B.E., V.R.D., to be released (age), to date 22 July 1960, and placed on the Retired List, to date 23 July 1960.
Commander H. Barnett (Retired List) to be employed on the Supplementary List for a further 12 months from 19 May 1960.
Commander L. G. Carr, D.S.C., granted the acting rank of Captain whilst holding present appointment, to date 15 March 1960.
Commander S. F. Mercer, granted the acting rank of Captain whilst holding present appointment, to date 5 May 1960.
Instructor Lieutenant-Commander O. L. D. Claridge, B.Sc., transferred to General List (Supply and Secretariat Specialisation) in the rank of Acting Lieutenant-Commander with seniority of 5 April 1960, to date 5 April 1960.
Engineer Lieutenant-Commander W. R. Paul, M.B.E., to be employed on the Active List for a further three years from 7 June 1961.
