Revoking Limited Speed Zones and Declaring a Closely
Populated Locality

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956†, dated the 27th day of January 1958,* which relates to an area at Seddon in Awatere County is hereby revoked.
  2. The roads specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Awatere County at Seddon—

No. 1 State highway (Awanui-Bluff) from its junction with the southern part of Wakefield Street (formerly known as the Seddon-Marama Main Highway) to the junction of the said State highway with Fearon Street.

Wakefield Street, from a point 6 chains south of its junction with Foster Street to the junction of Wakefield Street with No. 1 State highway (Awanui-Bluff).

Wakefield Street (from its junction with No. 1 State highway (Awanui-Bluff) to the junction of Wakefield Street with Fearon Street).

Simpson Street (from its junction with Clifford Street to the junction of Simpson Street with Linen Flax Road).

Foster Street, Beaumont Street, Redwood Street, Seymour Street, Clifford Street, Wilson Street, Renwick Street, Newcome Street, Duncan Street, Weld Street, Richmond Street, Goulter Street, Tetley Street, Fearon Street, Fell Street, Linen Flax Road, and Carkeek Street.

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 13th day of September 1951,* which relates to an area at Bay View in Hawke’s Bay County is hereby revoked.
  2. The road specified in the first Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.
  3. The road specified in the second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.

SITUATED within Hawke’s Bay County at Bay View—
The Bay View Township Service Road.

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Hawke’s Bay County at Bay View—

No. 2 State highway (Pokeno-Wellington via Gisborne) from its junction with Fannin Street to the southernmost junction of the said State highway with the Bay View Township Service Road.

Limited Speed Zones Declared and Excluding Roads from Speed Limitation

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* dated the 14th day of April 1958†, which relates to an area in Balclutha Borough is hereby revoked.

  2. The roads specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

  3. The roads specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be limited speed zones for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.*

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Balclutha Borough—

That portion of the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) from a point 1 chain south-west of its junction with Michie Street to the south-western boundary of Balclutha Borough, and that portion of the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) from the eastern boundary of Balclutha Borough to a point 16 chains west of the said boundary.

Amending Notice Relating to the Open Season for Game in Certain Acclimatisation Districts

PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby amends the notice published in the Supplement dated 3 May 1960, to Gazette, No. 28, 28 April 1960, by adding to that portion of the Second Schedule to the notice which relates to the North Canterbury Acclimatisation District the following closed game areas.

CLOSED GAME AREAS

“(17) Cheviot or St. Anne’s Lagoon: Those parts of St. Anne’s Lagoon (commonly known as Cheviot Lagoon), situated on part Section 27, Block IV, and parts Sections 1 and 4, Block VII, Cheviot Survey District, together with a strip of land 150ft in width along the margins thereof as may be further defined by the erection of white-painted posts. On the remainder of this lagoon and land adjoining (being Reserve 3146) shooting is prohibited as it is a reserve pursuant to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953.

“(18) R.S. 1352, 1269, part 1439, Block X, Rangiora Survey District, comprising 71 acres, and part R.S. 1462, Block X, Rangiora Survey District, comprising 77 acres 1 rood 17 perches, situated at Southbrook, being the property of Donaghys Rope and Twine Co. Ltd., and as may be further defined by the erection of white-painted posts.

“(19) All that area in the Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Rural Section 17571; thence north-easterly generally along Fairweather Road, Harpers Road, and Dixons Road to the northern boundary of Reserve 3415; thence along that boundary to a point due west of the easternmost corner of Rural Section 14341; thence along a right line to that point; thence westerly generally along the road forming the southern boundary of that section and of Rural Section 5785 to Heywards Road; thence north-westerly along Heyward’s Road to its intersection with the south-eastern boundary of Reserve 3415; thence south-westerly generally along that boundary to a point in line with the southern boundary of Rural Section 17571; thence to and along that boundary to the south-western corner of the said Section 17571, the point of commencement being the property of Mr G. F. Dixon, Clarkville, and as may be further defined by the erection of white-painted posts.

“(20) That portion of the Weka Stream flowing through or bounding the properties of Messrs E. C. S. Murchison, C. H. Bethell, L. W. Ferguson, R. G. Forbes, F. J. Bain, E. C. Topp, and estate of R. B. Johnston, in the Waikari Survey District.

“(21) All that area in the Canterbury Land District, being Rural Sections 4300, 4357, 4591, 4592, and 5235, situated in Block XVI, Waipara Survey District, being part of the property of Mr E. C. S. Murchison and as may be further defined by the erection of white-painted posts.”

Amendments to the Rules of the Hobson Acclimatisation Society

PURSUANT to section 29 (4) of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby gives notice that the amendments to rules 6, 13, 17, and 18 of the Hobson Acclimatisation Society, as adopted at the special general meeting on 12 April 1960, have been approved by him under that subsection.
