Amending Notice Relating to the Open Season for Game in
Certain Acclimatisation Districts
PURSUANT to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal
Affairs hereby amends the notice published in the Supple-
ment dated 3 May 1960, to Gazette, No. 28, of 28 April 1960,
by adding to that part of the Second Schedule to the notice,
which relates to the South Canterbury Acclimatisation Dis-
trict, the following closed game area.
CLOSED GAME AREA
“(16) All that area in and adjoining the Canterbury Land
District, Levels County, containing by estimation 70 acres,
more or less, being Reserve 911, foreshore, and portion of the
sea, and bounded as follows:
“Commencing at a point on the mean high-water mark of
the sea, on the south-eastern boundary of Reserve 2593, in
line with the south-western side of Meadows Settlement Road
(Brownes Road) in Block IX, Arowhenua Survey District,
and proceeding south-westerly generally along the mean high-
water mark of the sea, being the south-eastern boundary of
Reserve 2593, to and along the western boundary of Reserve
911 to the south-western corner of that reserve in Block XI,
Arowhenua Survey District; thence south-easterly along the
south-western boundary of Reserve 911 and its production
100 yd beyond the low-water mark of the sea; thence north-
easterly generally 100 yd distant from and parallel to the low-
water mark of the sea to a point in line with the south-
western side of Meadows Settlement Road (Brownes Road);
thence north-westerly along a right line to the point of com-
mencement.”
As shown on plan marked I.A. 46/16/13 deposited in the
Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and
thereon bordered yellow.

Timber Preservation Regulations—Specifications for the
Preservative Treatment of Timber
REGULATION 8 (d) of the Timber Preservation Regulations
1955* makes provision for the formulation and adoption by
the Timber Preservation Authority of specifications govern-
ing the preservative treatment of timber.
Notice is hereby given that the following specifications are
now completed:

with creosote or pentachlorophenol of natural-
round timbers (including natural-round fence
posts, piles—other than for marine use—and
poles of the species herein referred to), sawn or
split posts, part rounds, and other timbers which

other situations favourable to decay.
Specification for the vacuum pressure impregnation
with creosote or pentachlorophenol of sawn or
split fence battens (droppers).

boron compounds by the momentary immersion
methods (momentary dip, spray tunnel, chain
dip) of sawn timber which will be cut and used
out of contact with the ground in building con-
struction, and continuously protected from the
weather.
It is the intention of the Timber Preservation Authority,
pursuant to regulation 8 (d), formally to adopt these specifica-
tions with effect from a date yet to be determined. In the
meantime the specifications may be perused by any person
and copies may be obtained on application to the Secretary,
Timber Preservation Authority, Sixth Floor, Prudential Build-
ing, Lambton Quay, Wellington, or to G.P.O., Box 1320,
Wellington.
The Timber Preservation Authority will receive for con-
sideration any comments on the specifications which reach the
office of the Secretary before 4.30 p.m., on Monday, 1 August
1960.

Exemption of Caterpillar Tractor and Scraper Combination
From the Usual Parking Brake Requirements
PURSUANT to regulation 25A of the Traffic Regulations 1956,*
the Commissioner of Transport hereby exempts vehicles of
the class specified in the Schedule hereto from the require-
ments of the said regulations in relation to a parking brake,
provided that the tractor and scraper are modified so as to be
not readily detachable and the scoop is capable of being
lowered on to the road surface to hold the vehicle when
parked.
