Bird’s Eye Foods (New Zealand) Ltd., Hastings—Inquiry into Accident

In the matter of the Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes Act 1950 and in the matter of an accident happening to a boiler, official No. 51838, owned by Bird’s Eye Foods (New Zealand) Ltd., Hastings.
WHEREAS on the 9th day of March 1960 at Hastings an accident happened to a boiler, official No. 51838, owned by Bird’s Eye Foods (New Zealand) Ltd., to which the Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes Act 1950 applies; and whereas by reason of the said accident one, Ian Howard Allison, of Hastings, maintenance fitter, was killed; and whereas it is expedient that an inquiry be held before a Magistrate together with a person skilled in the use and construction of a boiler:
Now, therefore, in exercise of the power and authority vested in me by section 35 of the said Boilers, Lifts, and Cranes Act 1950, I, William Arthur Fox, Minister of Marine, do hereby direct that an inquiry be held into the said accident before Alan Aylmer Coates, Esquire, Stipendiary Magistrate, together with Rodger Norman Kerr, A.M.I. MECH.E., Extra First Class Marine Engineer’s Certificate, of Wellington, Chief Building Services Engineer, Ministry of Works, whom I hereby appoint to act together with the said Alan Aylmer Coates in the holding of the inquiry:
And I do further appoint Monday, the 2nd day of May 1960, at 10 a.m., as the time for the commencement of the inquiry, and Hastings City Council Chambers in Hastings Street South, Hastings, as the place at which the inquiry shall be held.

Revocation of the Reservation Over a Reserve Specifying the Manner of Disposal and How Proceeds of Sale Shall be Utilised
——
PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby revokes the reservation as a reserve for recreation purposes over the land described in the Schedule hereto and, further, declares that the said land may be disposed of by the Wellington City Council at current market value, the proceeds from any such sale to be paid into the Council’s reserves account, such moneys to be used and applied in or towards the improvement of other recreation reserves under the control of the Council, or in or towards the purchase of other land for recreation reserves.
