Town and Country Planning Act 1953—Whangarei County: Notice of Extension of Period of Effectiveness of Refusals and Prohibitions

PURSUANT to subsection (6) of section 38 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1953, notice is hereby given that the period of effectiveness of each refusal or prohibition made by the Whangarei County Council in the interests of the Whangarei County district scheme, which refusal or prohibition but for this notice would expire between the date of public notification hereof and the 1st day of May 1961 inclusive, is hereby extended to the said 1st day of May 1961.

Closely Populated Locality Declared and Revoking a Limited Speed Zone

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* dated the 28th day of November 1957†, which relates to the Levin-Paekakariki State Highway No. 13 at Paraparaumu in Hutt County is hereby revoked.

  2. The road specified in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

SITUATED within Hutt County at Paraparaumu—

The Levin-Paekakariki State Highway (from its junction with Ruahine Street to a point 16 chains south of the junction of the said State highway with the Paraparaumu Beach Main Highway).

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice that the road specified in the Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.*

The Ngaruawahia-Waingaro Main Highway (from a point 24 chains east of its junction with Wilton Mine Road to a point 16 chains north-west of the said junction).

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. That Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949, dated the 14th day of January 1958,* which relates to the Black Bridge - Paihia Main Highway No. 587 at Paihia in Bay of Islands County is hereby revoked.

  2. The road specified in the First Schedule is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.

  3. The roads specified in the Second Schedule are hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

SITUATED within Bay of Islands County at Paihia—

The Kawakawa-Opua-Paihia Main Highway (from the northern end of the Te Haumi Bridge to a point 55 chains measured generally in a northerly direction along the said main highway from the said bridge).

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Bay of Islands County at Paihia—

The Blackbridge-Paihia Main Highway (from a point 6 chains south-west of its junction with Back Road to the junction of the said main highway with the Kawakawa-Opua-Paihia Main Highway).

The Kawakawa-Opua-Paihia Main Highway (from a point 55 chains measured generally in a northerly direction along the said main highway from the northern end of the Te Haumi Bridge to the junction of the said main highway with the Blackbridge-Paihia Main Highway).

Exemption of Caterpillar Tractor and Scraper Combinations from the Usual Parking Brake Requirements

——

PURSUANT to regulation 49 of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* the Minister of Transport hereby approves of an adjustable scoop of the type specified in the first column of the Schedule as being a compliance with regulation 42 of the said regulations relating to the fitting of a parking brake when fitted to a motor vehicle of the type specified in the second column of the Schedule hereto.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

——

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise him, while he is under the age of 18 years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.
