Appointments to the New Zealand Naval Board

Pursuant to the Navy Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy:

Rear-Admiral P. Phipps, D.S.C. and BAR, V.R.D., to be First Naval Member of the New Zealand Naval Board and Chief of the Naval Staff in succession to Rear-Admiral J. M. Villiers, O.B.E., with effect from 1 April 1960.

Captain L. S. Stanners, O.B.E., to be Second Naval Member of the New Zealand Naval Board in succession to Rear-Admiral P. Phipps, D.S.C. and BAR, V.R.D., with effect from 1 April 1960 (granted the rank of Commodore whilst holding this appointment).

Captain E. A. G. Whittle, C.B.E., R.N. (Retired List), to be entered on the Supplementary List of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy for a period of three years on 20 June 1960, and to be Third Naval Member of the New Zealand Naval Board in succession to Commodore A. L. Tapper with effect from 30 June 1960 (granted the rank of Commodore whilst holding this appointment).

Captain David Emil Mynott Taylor, M.B., CH.B., RNZAMC, relinquishes the appointment of RMO, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, in the rank of Captain. Dated 12 February 1960.

Lieutenant R. A. Burns to be temp. Captain. Dated 25 September 1959.

Lieutenant Keith Ferguson Gray Parish is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps, in the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 8 February 1960.

Captain (temp. Major) N. S. Murchison, E.D., LL.B., to be Major. Dated 20 September 1959.

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) Peter Mowbray Tripp, M.B., CH.B., relinquishes the appointment of CO “C” Coy, and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, in the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 1 December 1959.

Lieutenant Henry Jeffray Weston, M.B., CH.B., M.R.C.P., D.C.H., from the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, to be Captain with seniority from 17 October 1958, is posted to “W” Coy next below Captain R. B. Cook, M.B., CH.B., and seconded to Army Headquarters as temporary Assistant Director of Medical Services. Dated 15 February 1960.

Captain H. J. Weston, M.B., CH.B., M.R.C.P., D.C.H., to be acting Major while holding the appointment of Assistant Director of Medical Services, Army Headquarters. Dated 15 February 1960.
