GORE BOROUGH COUNCIL
RESOLUTIONS MAKING SPECIAL RATES
Streets Improvement Loan 1958
My Council at its ordinary meeting held on 14 December 1959 duly passed the following resolutions:
“Resolved on the motion of Councillor Hankey, seconded by Councillor Chittock that, pursuant to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Gore Borough Council resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a loan of £50,000 authorised to be raised by the Gore Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for streets improvements, the said Gore Borough Council hereby makes a special rate of 1·3715 pence in the pound upon the rateable unimproved value of all rateable property of the Borough of Gore; and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable yearly on the 15th day of December in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of 25 years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”
Waterworks Extension Loan 1959
“Resolved on the motion of Councillor Paterson, seconded by Councillor English that, pursuant to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Gore Borough Council resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a Loan of £50,000 authorised to be raised by the Gore Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act for waterworks extensions, the said Gore Borough Council hereby makes a special rate of 1·3715 pence in the pound upon the rateable unimproved value of all rateable property of the Borough of Gore; and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan, and be payable yearly on the 15th day of December in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of 25 years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

COUNTY OF CLIFTON
RURAL HOUSING—SPECIAL RATE
“THAT, public notice having been given, the Clifton County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate under the powers conferred by the Counties Act 1956, the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, and the Rating Act 1925, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a loan of £5,000 to be raised for the purposes of the Rural Housing Act 1939. Such special rate to be an annually recurring rate of decimal nought two three six seven pence (·02367d.) in the pound on the capital value of all rateable property in the county area, and such special rate to be paid yearly on 20 December in each and every year during the currency of the loan, or until the said loan is paid off, and the said special rate be hereby pledged and appropriated as security for the said loan and that all moneys received by way of levy of the said special rate be utilised in discharge of the annual instalments under the above-mentioned loan.”
I certify that the above resolution was duly carried at a meeting of the Clifton County Council, held on 11 December 1959, and is entered in the minute book of the Council, at page 117.

MARLBOROUGH HARBOUR BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Marlborough Harbour Board hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a loan of £100,000 authorised to be raised by the Marlborough Harbour Board under the above-mentioned Act for harbour works, the said Marlborough Harbour Board hereby makes a special rate of 0·09 pence in the pound (£) upon the rateable capital value of all rateable property in the Marlborough Harbour District, comprising the counties of Marlborough, Awatere, and Sounds (except the Croisille-French Pass Road District as defined by Order in Council dated the 23rd day of September 1953 and published in the Gazette of the 24th day of the same month at page 1551), the East Coast Riding of the County of Kaikoura, and the boroughs of Picton and Blenheim, and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of 20 (twenty) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

THE WESTLAND CATCHMENT BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
Inchbonnie Partial Scheme Loan (1959)—£2,750
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Westland Catchment Board hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a loan of £2,750 authorised to be raised by the Westland Catchment Board under the above-named Act for the Inchbonnie Partial Scheme the said Westland Catchment Board hereby makes a special rate on the capital value of all rateable property in the special rating classification list for the special rating area in accordance with the classification plan deposited in the office of the Westland Catchment Board as No. 911/32 at the following rates in the pound on the capital value of the various classes of land described in such classification list, namely:
Class A ..... 2·431d. in the pound.
Class B ..... 1·823d. in the pound.
Class C ..... 1·215d. in the pound.
Class D ..... 0·730d. in the pound.
Class F ..... 0·365d. in the pound.
and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan and to be payable yearly on the 6th day of September in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of 15 years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”
I hereby certify that the above is a true and correct copy of a resolution duly passed by the Westland Catchment Board at its meeting held on the 21st day of December 1959.

HUTT VALLEY ELECTRIC POWER AND GAS BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Hutt Valley Electric Power and Gas Board hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a loan of £100,000 authorised to be raised by the Hutt Valley Electric Power and Gas Board under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of providing further reticulation within the Board’s area, the said Hutt Valley Electric Power and Gas Board hereby makes a special rate of one-tenth of a penny (¹⁄₁₀d.) in the pound (£) upon the unimproved rateable value of all rateable property of the Hutt Valley Electric Power District; and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable yearly on the 31st day of March in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of twelve (12) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

OTAGO ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING A SPECIAL RATE
Building Loan 1959, £70,000
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Otago Electric Power Board hereby resolves as follows:
“That, for the purpose of providing for the repayment of the principal, interest, and other charges on the Board’s building loan 1959, £70,000, authorised to be raised by the Otago Electric Power Board under the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 for the purpose of erecting new offices, showrooms, boardroom, and staff accommodation, the Otago Electric Power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of one-eighth of a penny (¹⁄₈d.) in the pound (£) on the capital rateable value of all rateable property within the inner area of the Otago Electric Power District (which includes portions of the Counties of Bruce, Clutha, Tuapeka, Maniototo, Taieri, Waihemo, Waikouaiti, and Southland, together with the Boroughs of Balclutha, Kaitangata, Lawrence, Naseby, Palmerston, and Waikouaiti), and it is hereby further resolved that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of the said building loan 1959, or until the said loan has been fully repaid, and the special rate be and the same is hereby appropriated and pledged as security for the repayment of the said loan and for payment of interest thereon and other charges under the securities to be issued in respect of the said loan.”
The above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Otago Electric Power Board held on the 19th day of May 1959.
