of Hamilton, to hold office from and including the 1st day of February 1960 to and including the 31st day of January 1963.

The age for retirement of Squadron Leader Morgan Brownson Edwards, O.B.E., p.s.a. (78669), is extended for a further period of one year, with effect from 14 December 1959.
TERRITORIAL AIR FORCE
ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPLY BRANCH
Appointment
Special Duties Division
Kenneth Grant Bigham (690445) is granted a commission in the Administrative and Supply Branch (Special Duties Division), Territorial Air Force, for a period of five years to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed to the rank of Pilot Officer, with seniority and with effect from 12 June 1959.

RESERVE OF AIR FORCE OFFICERS
Promotion
Flying Officer Alwyn Gordon Vette (130945) to be temporary Flight Lieutenant, with effect from 5 May 1959.
Transfer to the Retired List
Flight Lieutenant (temp.) Joseph Frederick Band (130141) is transferred to the Retired List “B”, with effect from 1 January 1960.
Retirement
Flying Officer Philip Leslie Courteney Hinge (133179) is retired, with effect from 13 December 1959.

PURSUANT to sections 222 and 464 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint
Wiremu Aoteroa Panapa,
Maori Welfare Officer, Taupo, being an officer in the service of the Crown employed by the Department of Maori Affairs, as a person authorised to attest, in accordance with the provisions of the said sections 222 and 464, the signatures of Maoris to instruments of alienation and to instruments by way of security within the meaning of the Chattels Transfer Act 1924.
