PURSUANT to section 42 of the Rating Act 1925, I hereby give notice that, at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Helensville taken on the 21st day of November 1959 on the proposal that the system of rating in the said borough be on the unimproved value:

I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

CHEVIOT TROTTING CLUB (INC.) RESOLUTION


AT a special general meeting of the Cheviot Trotting Club (Inc.) held on the 5th day of October 1959 at Cheviot, it was duly resolved as follows:

“In pursuance and exercise of the powers under section 33 of the Gaming Act 1908, it is hereby resolved that the regulations dated the 5th day of October 1959 are hereby revoked, and in lieu thereof the following regulations shall be regulations under the said section 33 controlling the admission of persons to that part of the course situated in the District of Cheviot and known as the Cheviot Trotting Club’s Racecourse, or to any other racecourse used or occupied by the club for race meetings.”

CHEVIOT TROTTING CLUB (INC.) REGULATIONS
(Under the Gaming Act 1908)

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described or any other racecourse while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:

(a) Bookmakers.

(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c) All persons under disqualification imposed under the New Zealand rules of racing or the New Zealand rules of trotting or by the racing or trotting authorities in any country outside New Zealand which have reciprocal agreements in matters of racing or trotting with the New Zealand Racing Conference or the New Zealand Trotting Conference.

(d) Common prostitutes, idle and disorderly persons within the meaning of the Police Offences Act 1927.

(e) Professional tippers, persons convicted of house breaking, burglary, or pocket picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act 1908, and persons convicted under the Police Offences Act 1927 of conversion or attempted conversion of a motorcar or other vehicle or of being idle and disorderly persons or of being a rogue and vagabond and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act 1908, or persons having a criminal record in countries outside New Zealand and the references to the foregoing Acts shall be deemed to apply to any subsequent Act consolidating or in substitution therefor.

Provided always that the Executive appointed by the New Zealand Trotting Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to the character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

THE PHARMACY BOARD ELECTIONS 1959


NOTICE is hereby given that a general election, in terms of the Pharmacy Board Election Regulations 1940, was held on the 24th day of November 1959.

For the Auckland District three candidates were nominated, R. F. D. Crosby, J. M. Dickey, and F. W. G. Johnson, and I declare these three to be duly elected.

For the Wellington District three candidates were nominated, F. T. Castle, H. F. Clarke, and C. A. Fredericksen, and I declare these three to be duly elected.

For the Canterbury District three candidates were nominated, and votes were recorded as follows: H. D. Oddie, 61 votes; F. B. Price, 50 votes; S. J. Wilson, 35 votes. I therefore declare Messrs Oddie and Price to be duly elected.

For the Otago District one candidate, W. A. Baylis, was nominated, whom I declare to be duly elected.

For the employees’ representatives, in terms of section 5 (2) (c) of the Pharmacy Act 1939, one candidate, K. R. Deas, was nominated for the North Island and one candidate, A. L. Gallop, was nominated for the South Island. I declare these two to be duly elected.
