At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 10th day of November 1959

Present:

THE HON. C. F. SKINNER, M.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby constitutes and declares the area of land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto, being an area to which subsection (1) of section 14 of the Rabbits Act 1955 applies, a rabbit district, and appoints that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the Otepopo Rabbit District, and orders that the basis on which the Rabbit Board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of the land occupied by the ratepayer.


SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE OTEPOPO RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District and in the County of Waitaki containing 108,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Kakanui River and proceeding generally north-westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 3A, Kauru Hill Settlement; thence south-westerly to and along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 4A and 5A, to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 6A; thence generally southerly to and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 6A and 18A, Kauru Hill Settlement, to French Road; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of French Road to Kauru Hill Road; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of that road to Mount Pleasant Road; thence generally south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that road to Allen Road; thence generally westerly along the northern boundary of that road to the eastern boundary of Run 572, Kauru Survey District; thence generally southerly along the eastern boundaries of Run 572, Run 217B, Section 4, Block XV, and Section 2, Block XIV, Otepopo Survey District, to the northern boundary of Run 209; thence easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of Run 209 to the north branch of the Waianakarua River; thence generally south-easterly down the middle of that branch to a point in line with the eastern boundary of D.P. 4844; thence southerly to and along that boundary to the southernmost corner of D.P. 4844, being part Sections 36 and 1448R, Block VIII, Otepopo Survey District; thence generally westerly along the northern boundary of Breakneck Road to the road through

Section 1 of 47, Block VIII; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that road and along the south-western boundary of Section 3, Block XIII, to and southerly along the eastern boundary of Block XIII, Otepopo Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of Run 11A; thence generally south-westerly along the south-western boundary of Run 11A and the south-eastern boundaries of Run 464 and part Run 109 to its southernmost corner and across the south branch of the Waianakarua River to the north-easterly boundary of Section 10, Block XV, Moeraki Survey District; thence south-easterly along that boundary, and south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 10 and 8 and across a road to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block XV, Moeraki Survey District; thence generally south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Waitaki County as described in Gazette, 1958, page 1086, to the south-western corner of Section 5, Block XI, Moeraki Survey District; thence easterly along the southern boundary of the said Section 5, to the western side of a public road; thence south-westerly and south-easterly along the western side of that road through Sections 31 and 46, Block XI aforesaid, to its junction with Horse Range Road; thence to and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that road to the westernmost corner of Lot 1A, D.P. 2024; thence generally south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Lot 1A, D.P. 2024, and Lots A and B, D.P. 2175, to the western boundary of Section 46, Block II, Moeraki Survey District; thence northerly along the western boundary of that Section 46 and easterly along its northern boundary and its production to the sea coast; thence generally north-easterly along the sea coast to the point of commencement.

Declaring Portion of Mount Cook National Park to be Excluded from the Provisions of the Tourist Hotel Corporation Act 1955

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 10th day of November 1959

Present:

THE HON. C. F. SKINNER, M.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 11 of the Tourist Hotel Corporation Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the lands described in the Schedule hereto, being portion of the Mount Cook National Park, shall as from the date hereof cease to be administered by the Tourist Hotel Corporation of New Zealand for the purposes of the said Act, but otherwise shall remain part of the said park.

CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius, centred on the Malte Brun Hut, and being part Reserve 2756, situated in Block VI, Cook Survey District.

Also, all that area containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius, centred on the King Memorial (Haast) Hut, and being part Reserve 2756, situated in Block III, Mueller Survey District.

Also, all that area containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius, centred on the Gardiner Hut, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block IV, Mueller Survey District.

Also, all that area containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius, centred on the Hooker Hut, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block VII, Mueller Survey District.

Also, all that area containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius, centred on the Sefton Bivouac, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block VI, Mueller Survey District.

Also, all that area containing 1 rood 25 perches, more or less, within a circle of 25 yards radius, centred on the Mueller Hut, and being part Reserve 2652, situated in Block IX, Mueller Survey District.

As shown on the plan marked T.H.C./03 deposited in the Head Office of the Tourist Hotel Corporation of New Zealand at Wellington, and thereon edged red, the said areas being numbered 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 respectively on the said plan. (S.O. Plan 8661.) Portions of Mount Cook National Park.
