No. 64

Order 1957,* is hereby varied so that, notwithstanding anything to the contrary in section 90 of the Education Act 1914, the school shall be controlled by a Board of Governors constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Auckland Education Board;

(b) Seven members elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school, of which members at least one shall be a woman;

(c) One member appointed by the Governor-General;

(d) One member appointed by the Mount Roskill Borough Council;

(e) One member to be co-opted by the Board of Governors itself, if and when it thinks fit.

  1. The Blockhouse Bay Post-primary School Board of Governors Order 1957* is hereby revoked.

At the Government House at Wellington this 21st day of October 1959

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.


ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Berwick Rabbit District Order 1959.

(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  1. The boundaries of the Berwick Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 27th day of October 1954,* are hereby altered and redefined and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE BERWICK RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, the Counties of Bruce and Taieri, the Borough of Mosgiel, and Outram Town District containing 67,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Trigonometrical Station “Maungatua” in Section 13, Block XIV, Maungatua Survey District; thence south-westerly along a straight line to and along the north-western boundaries of Sections 56, 16, 6, and 10, Block XV, Maungatua Survey District, Sections 3, 4, and 1, Block X, Waipori Survey District, and Section 23, Block IX, Clarendon Survey District, to the north-western corner of that Section 23; thence southerly along the western boundaries of Sections 23, 38, 47, 56, and 57, Block IX aforesaid, and Sections 16, 15, 28, and 29, Block VIII, Clarendon Survey District, to the Clarendon Circle Hill Road; thence generally south-easterly along that road to the Clarendon-Berwick Road; thence north-easterly along that road to the north-western corner of Section 4, Block IX, Waihola Survey District; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that Section 4 to the shore of Lake Waihola; thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern shore of Lake Waihola and the north-western boundary of Block XXI, Waihola Survey District, to the Waipori River; thence easterly down the centre of that river to its confluence with the Taieri River; thence generally north-easterly along the left or south-eastern bank of the Taieri River to a point in line with the south-western boundary of the Town of Allanton; thence south-easterly to and across the Main South Railway; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that railway to Riccarton Road; thence south-easterly along that road to and across the Dunedin-Gore State Highway; thence generally easterly along the southern side of that highway to its junction with the Mosgiel-Middlemarch-Dunback Main Highway; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of that highway also known as Junction Road to the south-eastern boundary of Section 24, Irregular Block, East Taieri Survey District; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that Section 24 and Section 25, and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Section 25 to the Gladstone Main Highway; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that highway to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of the Central Otago Railway; thence north-westerly to and along that boundary to the south-western corner of Section 10, Block V, East Taieri Survey District; thence to and south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 11 and 12, Block V, a closed road, and Sections 7, 8, 16, 14, 10, 11, and 12, Block VI, to Gordon Road; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern side of Gordon Road to Muirs Halfway Bush Road; thence to and south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that road to the north-eastern boundary of Section 8, Block XVII, East Taieri Survey District; thence generally north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of Section 8 aforesaid, Section 59, Irregular Block, East Taieri Survey District, Sections 33 and 29, Block I, across a road and along the south-eastern boundary of Section 9 and the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 9 and 10, Block I, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, to the Taieri River; thence to and south-westerly down the centre of the Taieri River to the confluence of Traquair Burn; thence generally north-westerly up the Traquair Burn to and south-westerly along a stream forming the south-eastern boundary of Section 10, Block IX, Maungatua Survey District, to the Middlemarch-Outram Main Highway; thence south-easterly along that highway to McHendry Road; thence generally westerly along that road to a point due north of Trig. O in Block XI, Maungatua Survey District; thence due south to Trig. O; thence south-westerly along a straight line to the northern corner of Section 24, Block XI aforesaid; thence generally south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that Section 24 and the western boundary of Section 12, Block XIV, Maungatua Survey District, to a point due east of Trig. Maungatua; thence westerly to the point of commencement.

Officers of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed


COBHAM, Governor-General

WHEREAS by the Order in Council dated the 30th day of July 1923,* made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being (thereinafter and hereinafter called “the Governor”) was appointed to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the powers and authorities which by the said order were given and granted to the Governor for the time being of the Dependency were thereby vested in him:

And whereas the Governor was thereby further authorised and empowered to make all such rules and regulations as might lawfully be made by Her Majesty’s authority for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency:

And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the 14th day of November 1923†, it was enacted that all persons appointed by the Governor for the time being of the Dependency should have such power and authority as might be granted them in due course of law, and might be empowered to do such things as might be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency:

And whereas, by notice issued by the Governor on the 27th day of August 1953‡, Harold Ruegg, Esquire, was appointed an officer of the Government of the Dependency and vested with the powers and authorities described in the said notice, and in particular with the general executive and administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty’s rights and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the Dependency:

And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter named be also appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency:

Now, therefore, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the Ross Dependency, hereby appoint

Lieutenant-Commander James Lennox-King, V.R.D.,

as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Coroner, and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised by a Postmaster.

And I also appoint

Athol Renouf Roberts

as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster.

The said Lieutenant-Commander James Lennox-King and the said Athol Renouf Roberts to exercise their functions at such places within the Dependency as may be directed by the said Harold Ruegg, Esquire; and to hold office and exercise the duties thereof during pleasure.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, as the Governor of the Ross Dependency, this 28th day of October 1959.
