NEW PLYMOUTH CITY COUNCIL
TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1953
PUBLIC notice is hereby given that, pursuant to a resolution
of the Joint Planning Committee of the New Plymouth City
Council and Taranaki County Council made on the 31st day
of July 1958, a district scheme has been recommended for
approval under the Town and Country Planning Act 1953. The
scheme relates to the City of New Plymouth and County of
Taranaki combined area. The scheme has been deposited in
the public library, Brougham Street, the office of the District
Land Registrar, Powderham Street, the office of the Town
Clerk, Liardet Street, and the office of the County Clerk,
Robe Street, all in the City of New Plymouth, and is there
open for inspection, without fee, to all persons interested
therein at any time when the above places are open to the
public.
Objections to the scheme or to any part thereof shall be in
writing in the form No. 4 prescribed in the First Schedule
to the Town and Country Planning Regulations 1954, and
shall be lodged at the office of the Town Clerk, Liardet
Street, New Plymouth, at any time not later than the 31st day
of January 1960.
At a later date every objection will be open to public
inspection and any person who wishes to support or oppose
any objection will be entitled to be heard at the hearing of
objections if he notifies the Town Clerk in writing within a
period of which public notice will be given.

NELSON CITY COUNCIL
NOTICE OF CONSENT TO SPECIFIC DEPARTURE FROM THE CITY
OF NELSON OPERATIVE DISTRICT PLANNING SCHEME
NOTICE is hereby given that the Town and Country Planning
Appeal Board has consented to a specific departure from the
city’s operative district planning scheme, in so far as it relates to
the part of the city which was, until the 1st day of April 1958,
part of the Waimea County (Stoke), to enable Messrs Robert
Henry Wadsworth and Ken Athol Webley to subdivide into
residential allotments the land described in the Schedule
hereto, and to permit the Nelson City Council to issue build-
ing permits for the erection of dwellings on the said allotments,
the area being zoned as “Rural”.
SCHEDULE
ALL that parcel of land containing 7 acres and 29·3 perches,
more or less, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan 536, part Section
51, Suburban South, Block III, Waimea Survey District, and
being all the land in certificate of title, Volume 40, folio 15,
Nelson Registry, and also, that parcel of land containing 4
acres 1 rood 7 perches, more or less, being parts of Section
51, District of Suburban South, comprised in certificates of
title, Volume 59, folio 287, and Volume 75, folio 95, Nelson
Registry.
The land fronts Nayland Road and Songer Street, Stoke,
and is adjacent to the Railway Reserve.

WHANGAREI BOROUGH COUNCIL
RESOLUTION, BY WAY OF SPECIAL ORDER, ALTERING NUMBER
OF COUNCILLORS
“THAT, as from the date of the Municipal elections to be held
on 21 November 1959, the number of councillors for the
Borough of Whangarei be increased from nine to 12 exclusive
of the Mayor”.
The above resolution was made by the Whangarei Borough
Council, by way of special order, at a special meeting of the
Council held on the 2nd day of September 1959 and, having
been publicly advertised on the 17th day of September 1959
and the 5th day of October 1959, was confirmed by the said
Council at its ordinary meeting held on the 7th day of October
1959.

QUEENSTOWN BOROUGH COUNCIL
SPECIAL ORDER INCREASING NUMBER OF COUNCILLORS
IN exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 53 (2)
of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Queenstown
Borough Council hereby makes a special order that the total
number of members of the Queenstown Borough Council shall
consist of eight councillors in lieu of six councillors in addition
to the Mayor.

Appointment of Managing Ratepayer
NOTICE is hereby given that Athol Charles Saywell, Kura-
tawhiti Street, Greytown, farmer, has been appointed a manag-
ing ratepayer of the Moroa Water Race in place of Wallis
Guy King Wiggins, resigned.

APPLICATION FOR A MINING RIGHT
PURSUANT to the Mining Act 1926, notice is hereby given that
Walter James Inglis, of Kumara, retired, has applied under
application No. 32/59 for a licence for a water race for mining
purposes carrying 10 heads and situate in freehold Section
3187 and Road Reserve in Block VIII, Waimea Survey Dis-
trict.
Place and where application may be inspected: Wardens
Court at Hokitika.
Time and place for hearing of application: Tuesday, 10
November 1959, at 10 a.m., at Wardens Court at Hokitika.

AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB (INC.) RESOLUTION
AT a committee meeting of the Avondale Jockey Club (Inc.)
held on the 28th day of May 1959 at Auckland, it was duly
resolved as follows:
“Pursuant to clauses 55 and 56 subsection I of the rules
and regulations of the Avondale Jockey Club (Inc.), and in
pursuance and exercise of the powers under section 33 of the
Gaming Act 1908, it is hereby resolved that the regulations
dated the 17th day of January 1919 are hereby revoked, and
in lieu thereof the following regulations shall be regulations
under the said section 33 controlling the admission of persons
to that part of the Avondale Racecourse situated in the Dis-
trict of Avondale and known as the Avondale Racecourse, or
to any other racecourse used or occupied by the club for race
meetings.”
AVONDALE JOCKEY CLUB (INC.) REGULATIONS
(Under the Gaming Act 1908)

These regulations shall come into force on the date of the
same being published in the Gazette. -
In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,”
and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those
terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act 1908. -
The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded
from the racecourse above described or any other racecourse
while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a
race meeting, namely:
(a) Bookmakers.
(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and book-
makers’ agents.
(c) All persons under disqualification imposed under the
New Zealand rules of racing or the New Zealand
rules of trotting or by the racing or trotting authorities
in any country outside New Zealand which have
reciprocal agreements in matters of racing or trotting
with the New Zealand Racing Conference or the
New Zealand Trotting Conference.
(d) Common prostitutes, idle and disorderly persons within
the meaning of the Police Offences Act 1927.
(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house break-
ing, burglary, or pocket picking, forgery, uttering or
possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences,
receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any
offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act
1908, and persons convicted under the Police Offences
Act 1927 of conversion or attempted conversion of
a motorcar or other vehicle or of being idle and
disorderly persons or of being a rogue and vagabond
and persons convicted of an offence under the
Gaming Act 1908, or persons having a criminal record
in countries outside New Zealand and the references
to the foregoing Acts shall be deemed to apply to
any subsequent Act consolidating or in substitution
therefor.
Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed
by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied
by evidence as to the character and otherwise that any person
who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope
of this regulation should have relief from the effect thereof,
may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any
time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person,
and without assigning any reason for such revocation.
