Special Order Made by Waikato County Council Altering Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Waikato County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, the Waikato County Council resolves, by way of special order, as follows:

(1) The present Whangamarino Riding of the County of Waikato is hereby divided into two ridings to be known as the Maramarua and Waerenga Ridings, the respective boundaries of which shall be as described in the Schedule hereto.

(2) The said County Council shall consist of eight members who shall be elected as follows:

The electors of the eight ridings now comprised in the county shall elect one councillor for each riding.

(3) The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 14th day of October 1959.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF MARAMARUA RIDING

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block X, Maramarua Survey District, in the middle of the Waikato River in line with the southern boundary of Allotment 399, Parish of Whangamarino, and proceeding northerly, north-easterly, and southerly generally along the boundaries of the Waikato County being down the middle of the Waikato River to and up the middle of the Whangamarino and Maramarua Rivers and the middle of the Mangatangi Stream to the middle of the Pokeno-Miranda road; thence along the middle of that road to and along right lines passing through the middle of Section 2, Block XVI, Opaheke Survey District (formerly closed road and now parts Lot 11, on D.P. 7211 and D.P. 16643), to and again along another part of the Pokeno-Miranda road and the middle of the public road which forms the northern boundaries of part Allotment 158, D.P. 14554, and Allotment 157, both of the Parish of Koheroa, and Lots 3 and 4, D.P. 33468, and intersects Lots 21, 22, and 23, D.P. 7211, to and along the middle of a strip of land being part of Wharekawa No. 1 Block, being Lot 13, D.P. 31704, Lots 1 and 3, D.P. 27867, and Lot 15, D.P. 31704, to and along the middle of another public road forming the generally southern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 27867, to and along the western, southern, and eastern boundaries of Allotment 213, Parish of Koheroa, being a series of right lines passing through Lot 3, D.P. 33494, and Lot 1, D.P. S. 1466, to a point in line with the middle line of Findlays or Miranda Boundary Road forming the northern boundary of Lot 6, D.P. 33494; thence along a right line to and along the aforesaid middle line and the middle of Pokeno-Miranda road to a point in line with a right line running through the middle of Allotment 231, Parish of Koheroa; thence along a right line to and along other right lines passing through the middle of Allotment 231 aforesaid, crossing Miranda-Pokeno road and along the middle of the public road intersecting Lot 3, D.P. 12260, to the western boundary of Allotment 82, Parish of Koheroa, in Block VI, Wharekawa Survey District; thence along the western and northern boundaries of that allotment crossing and recrossing the Miranda-New Brighton Coast road to the shores of the Firth of Thames; thence southerly generally along the aforesaid shores to and along the left bank of the Miranda Stream to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 28111; thence along a right line across that stream to and along the aforesaid western boundary and the western boundary of Lot 1 on the said D.P. 28111, crossing the intervening Miranda-Waitakaruru road, along the western boundary of part of Waitakaruru 4c 5, the western boundary of Waitakaruru 4c 3, and again along the western boundary of another part of 4c 5 aforesaid, and part Waitakaruru 4c 4 and along the western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 21822, to its western corner; thence along a right line being the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Sections 8 and 10, Block VIII, Wharekawa Survey District, to and along the north-eastern boundary of part Section 1, the north-eastern, eastern, and south-eastern boundaries of Section 2, both sections being of Block VIII, Wharekawa Survey District, and along the northern boundary of part Section 20, Block II, Piako Survey District, to its intersection with a right line between Trig. Station No. 135 (Rataroa) and the north-western corner of Section 38, Block VII, Piako Survey District; thence along the aforesaid right line to and along the south-western boundary of the aforesaid Section 38, crossing the intervening Steens Road and the Pokeno-Paeroa State Highway and along the south-western boundaries of parts Sections 4 and 5 of the said Block VII, and part Section 12, Block XI, to its southernmost corner, the aforesaid blocks being of Piako Survey District, on the eastern boundary of the Waikato County; thence westerly generally along the north-western boundary of Section 2, Block VI, Piako Survey District, to and along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of Section 3, Block VI, Piako Survey District, passing through Pukekamaka Trig. No. 1531 along the north-western boundary of part Allotment 34 shown on D.P. 27841 and the north-western and eastern boundaries of another part Allotment 34 and the northern boundary of Allotment 40, both allotments being of the Parish of Maramarua, to and along the eastern boundary of Section 7, Block VI aforesaid, and its production across the Te Kauwhata-Waitakaruru Main Highway to and along its northern side, along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of Allotment 70, Parish of Maramarua, and again along the northern side of the aforesaid highway to and along the north-eastern and northern boundaries of Allotment 66 of the Parish of Maramarua, the northern boundary of Section 1, Block VI, a right line across a road to and along the north-western boundary of Section 5, Block VI aforesaid, along the northern side of Kopuku Road and the north-eastern side of the public road forming the north-eastern boundary of Allotment 199, Parish of Maramarua, to a point in line with the north-western boundary of that allotment; thence along a right line across that public road to and along the aforesaid north-western boundary, to and along the eastern side of a public road forming the western boundary of Section 6s, Mangakura Settlement, and along a right line being the production of the northern end of the last-mentioned roadside across another public road to the southern boundary of Section 5s; thence along the northern side of the last-mentioned public road which forms the southern boundary of Sections 5s and 10s, Mangakura Settlement, and Section 2, Block V, Piako Survey District, to and along the northern and western boundaries of Allotment 521, Parish of Whangamarino, the northern boundary of Allotment 17, the northern and western boundaries of Allotment 82 and the western boundary of Allotment 17 aforesaid, to and along the northern boundary of Allotment 12, the aforesaid allotments being of the Parish of Maramarua, to the right bank of the Whangamarino River; thence again easterly along the right bank of the aforesaid river to a point in line with the northern boundary of Allotment 398, Parish of Whangamarino; thence along a right line across that river to and along the aforesaid northern boundary to a public road; thence along the eastern and south-eastern side of that public road forming the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Allotments 476A, 477A, and 391, Parish of Whangamarino, to and along the eastern boundary of the North Island Main Trunk Railway, the southern end and middle of Emmets Road, to and along the middle of Whangamarino Station Road, the middle of the Auckland-Hamilton State Highway and Springhill Road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Allotment 399, Parish of Whangamarino; thence along a right line to and along the said southern boundary of that allotment; crossing the intervening Auckland-Hamilton State Highway and along a right line, being that boundary produced to the middle of the Waikato River, the point of commencement, including all the adjacent islands.

BOUNDARIES OF WAERENGA RIDING

All that area in the South Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point being the southernmost corner of part Section 12, Block XI, Piako Survey District, and proceeding southerly generally along the eastern boundary of the Waikato County being along the south-western boundaries of Section 15, the abutment of a public road, Section 18, the abutment of another public road and the south-western boundaries of Sections 19 and 5, all the aforesaid sections being of Block XI, Piako Survey District, and the western boundary of part Section 1, Block XV, Piako Survey District, to the north-eastern corner of Allotment 454, Parish of Whangamarino; thence westerly generally along the north-western boundaries of Allotments 454, 453, 452, 451, 450, 449, and 448, the northern and western boundaries of Allotment 472, all the aforesaid allotments being of the Parish of Whangamarino and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the middle of the Matahuru Stream; thence down the middle of the aforesaid stream to and along the eastern side of the Waerenga-Pukewhau road to the western corner of Allotment 659; thence along a right line across the aforesaid road to and along the northern boundary of part Allotment 269, along the eastern and northern boundaries of Allotment 671, along the northern boundaries of Allotments 670 and 665, all the aforesaid allotments being of the Parish of Whangamarino, along the northern boundary of Section 1, Block I, Hapuakohe Survey District, to and along the eastern and northern boundaries of Allotment 212, Parish of Whangamarino, crossing the intervening Waikare Lake Road to the eastern shores of Lake Waikare; thence along a right line across the said lake to and down the middle of the Onetea Stream and along a right line due west from the mouth of the said stream to the middle of the Waikato River; thence north-westerly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the southern boundary of Allotment 399, Parish of Whangamarino; thence easterly generally along the southern boundary of the Maramarua Riding hereinbefore described to the point of commencement, including all the adjacent islands.
