PURSUANT to section 186 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954 and section 125 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Nelson City Council to permit the laying off of the proposed streets described in the Schedule hereto at widths for the whole of their lengths of less than 66 ft, but not less than 40 ft.

The Southern Side of Wood Street in the City of Invercargill Exempted from the Provisions of Section 128 of the Public Works Act 1928

PURSUANT to section 128 of the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby approves of the resolution passed by the Invercargill City Council on the 27th day of August 1957, and set out in the First Schedule hereto, in so far as it affects the side and street described in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE
THE Invercargill City Council, being the local authority having control of the streets in the City of Invercargill, by resolution declares that the provisions of section 128 of the Public Works Act 1928 shall not apply to Wood Street between Clyde and Nith Streets in the City of Invercargill.
SECOND SCHEDULE
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT
THE southern side of Wood Street, City of Invercargill, fronting reserve for public gardens; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 156399 deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Authorising Ararawa Land Co. Ltd. to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby grants to Ararawa Land Co. Ltd., a duly incorporated company having its registered office at Raetihi (hereinafter referred to as the licensee),
a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from the Otamatea Stream (hereinafter referred to as the said stream), situated in Section 2A, Block XIV, Otukotara Survey District, in the County of Taupo, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding 30 cubic feet per second at any one time.
CONDITIONS
IMPLIED CONDITIONS
- The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water Power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS
- This licence is issued under the Water Power Regulations 1934, and is subject thereto, and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1958, and to all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.
UTILISATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS
- Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of generating electricity and shall be taken from the said stream at the point in Section 2A, Block XIV, Otukotara Survey District, indicated on the plan marked S.H.D. 500 deposited in the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
- The licensee is hereby authorised, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purpose of this licence, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan S.H.D. 500.
(a) Headworks consisting of a dam, intake, and pipeline leading to the powerhouse hereinafter referred to giving a static head of approximately 30 ft.
(b) Turbine and powerhouse with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, situated in Section 2A, Block XIV, Otukotara Survey District.
(c) Tail race leading from the said powerhouse back to the said stream.
SYSTEMS OF SUPPLY
- The systems of supply shall be as described in paragraphs (a), (b), (d), and (f) of regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935.
DURATION OF LICENCE
- Unless sooner lawfully determined, this licence shall continue in force until the 31st day of March 1979.
RENTAL
- For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this licence, the maximum generating capacity of the plant at the commencement of this licence is 55kW.
NO RIGHT TO WATER CONFERRED
- Nothing in this licence shall of itself confer upon the licensee any right to water.

Amending Licences Authorising the Otago Electric Power Board to Erect and Use Electric Lines

THE RIGHT HON. W. NASH PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928 and the Electric Power Boards Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby further amends the Order in Council dated the 17th day of June 1953 and published in the Gazette on the 18th day of the same month, at page 927, authorising the Otago Electric Power Board to erect and use electric lines, as amended by an Order in Council dated the 2nd day of May 1955 and published in the Gazette on the 5th day of the same month, at page 734, and amends the Order in Council dated the 17th day of August 1955 and published in the Gazette on the 18th day of the same month, at page 1300, authorising the said Board to erect and use electric lines, by inserting in each case in clause 3 of the conditions thereof, after the figures “22,000”, the words and figures “but a single-conductor earth-return system at voltages of 3,810, 6,350, and 19,000 volts may be used where it is already in operation at the date hereof”.
