Releasing Land from the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Whakatohea Development Scheme)

PURSUANT to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that on the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette the land described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the said land being so subject by virtue of a notice dated 18 December 1930 and published in the Gazette, 23 December 1930, Volume III, page 3908.

Boundaries of Borough of Riverton, County of Wallace, and Pourakino Riding of County of Wallace Defined

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the Borough of Riverton, the County of Wallace, and the Pourakino Riding of the County of Wallace, the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made on the 13th day of August 1958, and published in Gazette, 14 August 1958, No. 51, page 1093.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF RIVERTON

ALL that area in the Southland Land District containing by estimation 997 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the eastern shore of the Jacobs River Estuary in line with the north-eastern side of Albany Street and proceeding south-easterly to and along that side to the south-eastern side of Havelock Street; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern side of Havelock Street to the northernmost corner of Section 70, Aparima Maori Reserve, Block XXV, Jacobs River Hundred; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 70 to a point in line with the north-western boundaries of Sections 63, 58, 55, and 52, Aparima Maori Reserve; thence south-westerly to and along the said boundaries to the westernmost corner of Section 52; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Sections 52 and 51 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Carrol Street and Section 80, Aparima Maori Reserve to the sea coast; thence south-westerly generally along the sea coast to the southernmost corner of Section 38, Aparima Maori Reserve; thence southerly along a right line to Talls Point, a point on the sea coast adjacent to the easternmost corner of Section 30, Block II, Jacobs River Hundred; thence southerly along the sea coast to the northernmost corner of Section 34, Block II, aforesaid; thence easterly and southerly generally along the northern and eastern boundaries of the said Section 34 to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of the land shown on D.P. 2063; thence south-westerly to and along the said boundary, and its production across Walker Street, and along the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 4565 to the southernmost corner of Lot 2 aforesaid; thence south-easterly, south-westerly, and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 4565, the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, D.P. 4565, and the south-western boundary of the said Lot 9 to the south-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block II, Jacobs River Hundred; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Section 3 to the southernmost corner thereof; thence north-westerly generally along the south-western boundaries of the said Section 3 and Section 13, Block II, aforesaid to the south-eastern side of Richard Street; thence along the south-eastern side of Richard Street to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Section 45, Block I, Jacobs River Hundred; thence to and along the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 45 to the south-eastern boundary of Section 44, Block I aforesaid; thence north-easterly, north-westerly, and south-westerly along the south-eastern, north-eastern, and north-western boundaries of Section 44 aforesaid to the easternmost corner of Section 2 of 43, Block I aforesaid; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern boundaries of Section 2 of 43 and Section 1 of 43, Block I aforesaid to the south-eastern boundary of Section 6, Block I aforesaid; thence south-westerly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of the said Section 6 to the south-eastern boundary of Section 7, Block I aforesaid; thence south-westerly, north-westerly, and north-easterly along the south-eastern, south-western, and north-western boundaries of the said Section 7 and the last-mentioned boundary produced to the shore of the Jacobs River Estuary; thence north-westerly generally along the shore of the Jacobs River Estuary to the middle of the Tuatapere Branch Railway; thence easterly generally along the middle of the said Railway across the Jacobs River Estuary to the eastern shore thereof; thence northerly generally along the eastern shore of the Jacobs River Estuary to the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF WALLACE

ALL that area in the Southland and Otago Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waimatuku Stream; and proceeding north-westerly and south-easterly along the middle of the Waimatuku Stream to a point in line with the middle of the new channel through Sections 2A and 1A, Block XIX, New River Hundred, approximately 1750 links south-east from the westernmost corner of the said Section 2A; thence to and along the middle of the said new channel on a bearing of 352° 45′ to the middle of the said Waimatuku Stream; thence along the middle of the said Waimatuku Stream to a point in line with the middle of the said new channel; thence on a bearing of 23° 30′ to and along the middle of the said new channel which follows the south-eastern boundary of Section 10, Block XIX, aforesaid, to the middle of the said Waimatuku Stream; thence northerly generally along the middle of the said Waimatuku Stream to the middle of the Argyle-Tuatapere Main Highway No. 136; thence easterly along the middle of the said highway to the middle of Boundary Road; thence northerly generally along the middle of Boundary Road, the Winton-Otautau
