Appointment of Honorary Fishery Officer

PURSUANT to the Fisheries Act 1908, the Minister of Marine hereby appoints the person named in the Schedule hereto to be an Honorary Fishery Officer for the purposes of Part I of the Fisheries Act 1908, to hold office until the 31st day of March 1962.

Member of the Marlborough Harbour Board Appointed

PURSUANT to section 5 (4) of the Marlborough Harbour Act 1958, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to appoint

Max Lealand Godsiff

to be a member of the Marlborough Harbour Board as a representative of the Kenepuru Road District and that portion of the Sounds County within the Marlborough Harbour District, such appointment to be for a term expiring (unless he sooner vacates his office) on the day on which the first elected members of the Board go out of office.

PURSUANT to section 2 of the Child Welfare Act 1925, the Minister of Education hereby appoints

Immunities of Representatives and Staffs Attending SEATO Conference

WHEREAS meetings of the Council of the South-East Asia Treaty Organisation and of the Military Advisers to the Council are being held in New Zealand in April 1959:

And whereas the said meetings are being attended by the representatives of the Government of New Zealand and by the representatives of the Governments of the Commonwealth of Australia, France, the Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of the Philippines, the Kingdom of Thailand, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America (which Governments, with the exception of the Government of New Zealand, are hereinafter referred to as the said Governments):

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 14 of the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act 1957, the Minister of External Affairs hereby directs that for the purpose of any enactment or rule of law or custom relating to the immunities and privileges of a foreign envoy and of the members of the official staff of a foreign envoy:

(a) Every representative of each of the said Governments shall be treated as if he were a foreign envoy; and

(b) All the members of the official staff of any such representative shall be treated as if they were members of the official staff of a foreign envoy.

Declaration That Land is a Public Reserve

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby notifies that the following resolution was passed by the Howick Borough Council on the 14th day of October 1958:

“That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 13 of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Howick Borough Council hereby resolves that those pieces of land vested in the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of the said borough and described in the Schedule hereto shall be, and the same are hereby declared to be, a public reserve for recreation purposes within the meaning of the said Act.”

Declaration That Part of the Norsewood Domain Shall be Recreation Reserve, Subject to Part II of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953

PURSUANT to the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, the Minister of Lands hereby declares that that part of the Norsewood Domain described in the Schedule hereto shall cease to be subject to the provisions of Part III of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953, and shall be deemed to be a recreation reserve subject to Part II of the said Act.
