Result of Election by Fire Insurance Companies to Fill an
Extraordinary Vacancy on the Fire Committee for the
Marton Urban Fire District.
PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of
Internal Affairs hereby gives notice of the following result
of the election held on 30 July 1958 by the fire insurance
companies carrying on business in New Zealand to fill an
extraordinary vacancy on the fire committee for the Marton
Urban Fire District.

Exemption of Certain Explosives From Requirement of an
Entry Permit
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Explosives Act 1957, the
Minister of Internal Affairs hereby exempts the explosives
specified in the Schedule to this notice from the requirement
of an entry permit under that Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL explosives authorised in the 1st division of the 6th
(ammunition) class with the exception of safety fuse.

Claim for Registration of School Colours
PURSUANT to the Education Act 1914 and regulations there-
under, notice is hereby given that a claim has been made
for the registration of the following shield for the Culverden
School, North Canterbury:
Shield: Gules, on a bend Sable fimbriated Or, between in
chief an open book Proper and in base a basketball goal post
of the second behind the dexter end of a rugby football of
the third, a mullet Argent between two fleeces Or, the whole
within a bordure of the last.
Motto: “Nihil Nisi Optimum”.
If within 40 days of the publication of this notice no
objection to this claim is received by me, the claim will be
registered in accordance with the provisions of the above
Act and regulations.

Permission to Use "Left-hand Drive" Motor Vehicles First
Registered Before 1 September 1952
PURSUANT to subclause (2) of regulation 44 of the Traffic
Regulations 1956, the following vehicles are exempted, for
the period during which they are licensed under Part II of
the Transport Act 1949, from the provisions of subclause (1)
of the said regulation which prohibits generally the operation
on a road of any motor vehicle having the steering column
to the left of the longitudinal centre line of the body of the
vehicle:
Any motor vehicle first registered in New Zealand before
1st day of September 1952.

NOTES-The foregoing exemption avails only so long as
the motor vehicle is fitted with an approved direction indicator
and stop indicator.
Also the foregoing exemption does not excuse the necessity
of having the motor vehicle fitted with a mirror so as to
reflect to the driver a view of the roadway to the rear
sufficient for driving requirements.
