Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise him, while he is under the age of 18 years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

The road and portion of road specified in the Schedule to this notice are hereby declared to be limited speed zones for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.*

SITUATED within Franklin County—

That portion of Clark’s Beach Road from its south-western end at Clark’s Beach to its junction with Stevenson’s Road; also Crisp’s Road.

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

The portion of road specified in the Schedule to this notice is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

SITUATED within Paparua County—

That portion of Church Road at Templeton from its junction with the Christchurch-Timaru State Highway No. 58 to a point 11 chains north of its junction with Hall Street.

Varying Determinations by the Minister of Customs Under Section 16 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act 1934

PURSUANT to section 16 of the Customs Acts Amendment Act 1934, the Minister of Customs hereby varies the determinations made under the said section 16, dated the 29th day of April 1939, and published in the Gazette, 11 May 1939, Volume II, page 1457, by deleting paragraph 6 of Part II thereof and by substituting the following paragraphs therefor:

  1. Except with the special permission of the Minister and under conditions prescribed by him the under-mentioned goods shall not, if imported, be used in the assembly, completion, or manufacture of motor vehicles of the kinds mentioned in classes I and II of Part I hereof, viz.:

radiator assemblies.

  1. The Minister may, in his discretion, permit any goods to be entered under Tariff item 389 (a) even though such goods are not enumerated in column No. 2 of Part I hereof or if so enumerated they are not in the condition set out therein.

This variation of the aforesaid determinations shall take effect on the 1st day of January 1959.
