Revoking a Licence Authorising Edward Wilford Jones, of Yncyca Bay, Sheep Farmer, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and with the consent of the licensee, hereby revokes the Order in Council dated the 1st day of December 1948 and published in the Gazette on the 2nd day of the same month at page 1478, authorising Arthur Reginald Tosswill, of Yncyca Bay, sheep farmer, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity, the rights, powers, and privileges under the said Order in Council having been assigned by the said Arthur Reginald Tosswill to Edward Wilford Jones, of Yncyca Bay, sheep farmer.

Authorising Albert Edmond Walker, of Kokopu, Whangarei, Farmer, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby grants to Albert Edmond Walker, of Kokopu, Whangarei, farmer (hereinafter referred to as the licensee), a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from the Mangere River, (hereinafter referred to as the said stream), situated opposite the western boundary of Section 2, Block IX, Purua Survey District, in the County of Whangarei, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding four cubic feet per second at any one time.
CONDITIONS
IMPLIED CONDITIONS
- The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water Power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS
- This licence is issued under the Water Power Regulations 1934 and is subject thereto, and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and to all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.
UTILISATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS
- Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of generating electricity and shall be taken from the said stream at the point opposite the western boundary of Section 2, Block IX, Purua Survey District, indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 97397 deposited in the office of the State Hydro-electric Department at Wellington.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
- The licensee is hereby authorised, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purpose of this licence, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 97397.
(a) Headworks consisting of a dam and intake, with a water race and pipelines leading to the powerhouse hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 30 ft.
(b) Turbine and powerhouse with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, situated in Section 2, Block IX, Purua Survey District.
(c) Tail race leading from the said powerhouse back to the said stream.
SYSTEM OF SUPPLY
- The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (i) of regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 and shall be a direct-current system at a normal rated pressure of 110 volts.
DURATION OF LICENCE
- Unless sooner lawfully determined, this licence shall continue in force until the 31st day of March 1979.
RENTAL
- For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this licence, the maximum generating capacity of the plant at the commencement of this licence is 5 kilowatts.
NO RIGHT TO WATER CONFERRED
- Nothing in this licence shall of itself confer upon the licensee any right to water.

Amending a Licence Authorising Leonard William Todd, of Tutaki, Murchison, Farmer, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby amends, as set forth in the Schedule hereto, the Order in Council dated the 29th day of September 1948 and published in the Gazette on the 30th day of the same month, at page 1228, authorising Leonard William Todd, of Tutaki, Murchison, farmer, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity.
SCHEDULE

The operative part is amended by deleting from the last line thereof the word “two” and substituting therefor the word “four”.

Clause 4 of the conditions is amended by deleting from subclause (a) thereof the figure “18” and substituting therefor the figure “31”.

Clause 6 of the conditions is amended by deleting from the last line thereof the word “direct” and substituting therefor the word “alternating”.

Appointments
Air Commodore Malcolm Frederick Calder, C.B., C.B.E., LL.B., i.d.c., RNZAF, is appointed Chief of the Air Staff and First Member of the Air Board and, in addition, Air Officer Commanding Royal New Zealand Air Force and is granted the rank of Air Vice Marshal. Dated 1 July, 1958.
Group Captain Cameron Archer Turner, O.B.E., A.M.I.E.E., A.F.R.A.E.S., p.s.a., RNZAF, is appointed Assistant Chief of the Air Staff and Member of the Air Board and is granted the rank of Air Commodore. Dated 1 July, 1958.
