Insurance for Purposes of the Transport (Convention on Road Traffic) Regulations 1958

Pursuant to regulation 4 of the Transport (Convention on Road Traffic) Regulations 1958,* the Minister of Transport directs that, for the purposes of the said regulations, (1) the visitor shall complete for each licensing year a contract of insurance under Part V of the Transport Act 1949 by paying to a Deputy Registrar of Motor Vehicles the appropriate premium prescribed for the class to which the visitor’s motor vehicle belongs, and (2) the visitor shall give evidence of the completion of the said contract by the display of an Overseas Visitor’s Licence (as described in the Schedule hereto) in the manner following:

(a) In the case of a vehicle fitted with a windscreen, to the top left-hand corner of the inner side of the windscreen so as not to be readily detachable therefrom:

(b) In the case of a vehicle not fitted with a windscreen by affixing the licence to the inside of a piece of clear glass or other transparent material fitted to an approved waterproof holder which shall be attached to the vehicle—

(i) In the case of a motor cycle, in a position as near as possible to the centre of the handle-bar:

(ii) In the case of a trailer, on the back of the vehicle and in a position near the registration plate:

(iii) In the case of another motor vehicle, in a conspicuous position on the front of the vehicle on the left-hand side and as near as convenient to the top thereof.

Pursuant to the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby gives notice of the following results of the election held on Wednesday, 16 April 1958, by the fire insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand to elect four members on the Fire Board for the Christchurch Metropolitan United Urban Fire District:
