Present:

THE HON. C. F. SKINNER, M.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby grants to William Manson Sutherland, of Omarama, farmer (hereinafter referred to as the licensee), a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from the Wairepo Creek (hereinafter referred to as the said stream), situated in Section 1, Block VIII, Ohau River Survey District, in the County of Waitaki, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding 3 cubic feet per second at any one time.

CONDITIONS

IMPLIED CONDITIONS

  1. The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water Power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS

  1. This licence is issued under the Water Power Regulations 1934, and is subject thereto, and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and to all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.

UTILISATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS

  1. Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of generating electricity and shall be taken from the said stream at the point in Section 1, Block VIII, Ohau River Survey District, indicated on the plan marked P.W.D. 95453 deposited in the office of the State Hydro-electric Department at Wellington.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

  1. The licensee is hereby authorised, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purpose of this licence, the positions of the said works being indicated on the said plan P.W.D. 95453:

(a) Headworks consisting of a dam and intake with water race and pipelines leading to the Pelton wheel and powerhouse hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 65 ft.

(b) Pelton wheel and powerhouse with all necessary equipment for generating electricity situated on part of P.R. “B”, on Run 3 of C, Ohau River Survey District.

(c) Tail race leading from the said Pelton wheel to a water race on P.R. “B”, on Run 3 of C aforesaid.

SYSTEM OF SUPPLY

  1. The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d) of Regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, and shall be an alternating current system.

DURATION OF SUPPLY

Defining Limits for the Harbour of Wellington

COBHAM, Governor-General

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Harbours Act 1950, I, Charles John, Viscount Cobham, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby define the outward seaward limit of the harbour of Wellington to which such harbour shall extend to be the arc of a circle as described in the Schedule hereto, and hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 20th day of November 1868 and published in the Gazette, 23 November 1868, page 549, which defines the seaward limit of the port of Wellington.

SCHEDULE

THE arc of a circle running from the landward boundary of the foreshore at Fitzroy Bay and thence into Cook Strait and thence to the landward boundary of the foreshore at Island Bay, such arc being an arc of a circle of three nautical miles radius and having its centre at a point on the Outer Rock in the harbour of Wellington, such point being 272227 links S. and 24374 links E. of Mount Cook Trig. in the City of Wellington, and such arc being as shown by the line coloured blue on the plan marked M.D. 10371 and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General this 31st day of March 1958.

Flying Officer Raymond George Bachop, B.A. (78676) resigns his commission, with effect from 26 January 1958.

CHAPLAINS BRANCH

Appointment

The Rev. Cuthbert Frederick Peart (79215) is granted a short-service commission in the Chaplains Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period of three years, to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed to the rank of Flight Lieutenant, with effect from 14 February 1958.

Transfer

Flight Lieutenant the Rev. Richard Edward Talbot (133992) is transferred from the Chaplains Branch, Reserve of Air Force Officers, to the Regular Air Force, and is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years, to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed to the rank of Flight Lieutenant with seniority from 20 January 1957, with effect from 20 January 1958.

Promotion

Pilot Officer Graeme Craig Penney to be Flying Officer, with effect from 30 January 1958.
