Pursuant to the Transport Act 1949, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

The portion of road specified in the Schedule to this notice is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 36 of the Transport Act 1949.

All that area adjacent to New Plymouth City consisting of Elliot Road from the New Plymouth City boundary to Cowling Road.

Time and Place of Election by Fire Insurance Companies to Fill Positions on the Fire Board for the Christchurch Metropolitan United Urban Fire District

Pursuant to the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby appoints 12 noon on Wednesday, 16 April 1958, as the time and the offices of the Canterbury Fire and Accident Underwriters Association, 137 Hereford Street, Christchurch, as the place for the holding of a meeting of representatives of Insurance Companies carrying on business in New Zealand to elect four members on the Fire Board for the Christchurch Metropolitan United Urban Fire District.

Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the County of Waipukurau (Notice No. Ag. 6494)

Pursuant to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, the Director-General of Agriculture, acting under a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture for the purposes of the said Act, hereby publishes the following special order made by the Waipukurau County Council on the 6th day of February 1958.

SPECIAL ORDER

That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 and any amendments thereto, the Waipukurau County Council hereby resolves the plants listed in the Schedule appended hereto be declared noxious weeds as defined by the said Act, within the area under the jurisdiction of the Waipukurau County Council.

Bathurst bur (Xanthium spinosum).
Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus and Rubus laciniatus).
Boxthorn (Lycium horridum).
Burdock (Arctium, any species).
Cape Tulip (Homeria collina).
Common broom (Cytisus scoparius).
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).
Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea).
Milk or variegated thistle (Silybum marianum).
Nodding thistle (Carduus nutans).
Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea).
St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum).
Saffron thistle (Carthamus lanatus).
Star thistle (Centaurea calcitrapa).
Sweetbrier (Rosa eglanteria syn. Rosa rubiginosa).
Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes).
Yellow star thistle (Centaurea solstitialis).

Revoking Designation of State Highway, Revoking Declaration of Main Highway, Declaring Public Highway to be Main Highway, and Designating Main Highway to be State Highway

Pursuant to sections 11 and 12 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby give notice as follows:

  1. The main highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be designated state highway.
  2. (1) The public highway described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highway.
    (2) The Order in Council made on the 26th day of September 1927* declaring (inter alia) the portion of highway described in the First Schedule hereto to be main highway is hereby consequentially amended by revoking so much of the Second Schedule thereto as relates to the said portion of highway.
  3. The public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be main highway within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953.
  4. The main highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby designated state highway and shall form part of the Te Ngae - Paengaroa State Highway.
  5. This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the Gazette.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 3

All that portion of public highway in the County of Rotorua commencing opposite the south-western corner of Lot 17, Takahe Papakainga Block, Block VI, Rotoiti Survey District and terminating approximately opposite the north-western corner of part Lot I, Otamarae Block, Block VIII, Rotoiti Survey District, declared as portion of the Te Ngae - Paengaroa State Highway.

SECOND SCHEDULE

ROADS COUNCIL DISTRICT No. 3

TE NGAE - PAENGAROA: All that portion of public highway in the County of Rotorua commencing opposite the south-eastern boundary of Lot 9, Taheke Papakainga Block, Block VI, Rotoiti Survey District and proceeding thence generally in an easterly direction and terminating at its junction with the Te Ngae - Paengaroa State Highway approximately opposite the north-western corner of part Lot I, Otamarae Block, Block VII, Rotoiti Survey District, being a distance of 70 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 155683 deposited in the office of the National Roads Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
