Certain land in New River Hundred: All that area in the Southland Land District being Section 11, Block XIV, New River Hundred. Bounded towards the north and west by the Oreti River; towards the south by a public road; and towards the east by Section 10.

Also all that area being Sections 20, 21, and 30, and part of a road, bounded towards the north by Section 31; towards the west by a public road; and again towards the north by a public road; towards the east by the Oreti River; towards the south by Sections 22 and 29; and towards the west by Section 43.

A certain area in the Southland Acclimatisation District: Lots 61 and 62, Plan 135, part Section VA and closed road, Waimumu Hundred, and part Section 59, Hokonui District: Area, 233 acres.

Certain lagoons at Papatotara: All those areas in the Southland Land District being the lagoons on Sections 4, 5, and 6, Block I, Alton Survey District, and for a distance of a quarter of a mile round each of the said lagoons.

The property of the trustees of the late Robert Foster, Jacob’s River Hundred: All that area in the Southland Land District, being Sections 42 and 43, Block 7, Jacob’s River Hundred.

SECOND SCHEDULE
AREAS DECLARED TO BE WILDLIFE REFUGES UNDER THE WILDLIFE ACT 1953

  1. Land at New River Hundred: Sections 20 and 21, Block XIV, New River Hundred: Area, 128 acres 2 roods 11 perches, more or less. (S.O. 331.) Part of certificate of title Volume 146, folio 290.

As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/398 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

  1. Land at Jacob’s River Hundred: Firstly, all that area of land containing by estimation 77 acres, more or less, being parts Sections 42 and 43 and Closed Road, Block VII, Jacob’s River Hundred and bounded as follows: Commencing at the northernmost corner of Section 44, Block VII, Jacob’s River Hundred on the left bank of the Aparima River; thence south-easterly by the north-eastern boundary of the said Section 44, to the northern boundary of Lot 1 on plan numbered 3775 deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence easterly and southerly by the northern and eastern boundaries of the said Lot 1 to Fosters Main Highway; thence easterly and northerly by Fosters Main Highway and the Gropers Bush - Waimatuku Main Highway, to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 1 on plan numbered 3830 deposited as aforesaid; thence easterly across the said Gropers Bush - Waimatuku Main Highway and along the northern boundary of the said Lot 1, to the western boundary of part Section 42, Block VII, aforesaid (post office site); thence northerly, easterly, and southerly along the western, northern, and eastern boundaries of the said part Section 42, to the Gropers Bush - Waimatuku Main Highway; thence easterly along the said main highway to the Wairio Branch Railway; thence northerly along the western boundary of the said railway, to a fence line 7 chains south of the intersection of the south-western boundary of the part of Section 42, Block VII, aforesaid, shown on Land Transfer Plan No. 216 lodged in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill, and the western side of the said railway; thence westerly along the said fence line and that line produced, to the left bank of the Aparima River; thence south-westerly by the left bank of the said river to the point of commencement. Parts certificates of title, Volume 26, folio 288 and Volume 168, folio 209. Coloured yellow on plan. Secondly, part Section 43, Block VII, Jacob’s River Hundred: Area, 2 acres, more or less. All certificate of title, Volume 135, folio 141. Coloured blue on plan. As shown on plan numbered I.A. 52/99 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs at Wellington, and thereon coloured as above.

  2. Land at Waimumu Hundred: Lots 61 and 62, D.P. 135, being part of Section 5A and Closed Road, Block XIII, Waimumu Hundred and part of Section 59, Block LXXII, Hokonui Survey District: Area, 233 acres, more or less. All the land in certificate of title, Volume 105, folio 118. As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/392 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

  3. Section 11, Town of Dipton Bush: Area, 5 acres, more or less. (S.O. Plan 701.) As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/199 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

  4. Land near Hamilton Burn: Sections 20, 21, and 23, Block I, Centre Hill S.D.: Area, 756 acres and 36 perches, more or less. (S.O. Plan 1598 and 6113.) Part of the land in Register Book, Volume 177, folio 231. As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/424 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Constituting Plimmerton Secondary Urban Fire District as Urban Fire District

PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the Plimmerton Secondary Urban Fire District situated in the County of Hutt, to be an urban fire district by the name of the Plimmerton Urban Fire District.

PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares the urban area of Piopio in the County of Waitomo, the urban area of Kawhia in the County of Otorohanga, and the urban area of Kaeo in the County of Whangaroa, to be secondary urban fire districts by the names of the Piopio Secondary Urban Fire District, the Kawhia Secondary Urban Fire District, and the Kaeo Secondary Urban Fire District, respectively.

Constituting Christchurch Metropolitan United Urban Fire District

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 31st day of March 1958

Present:

THE HON. C. F. SKINNER, M.C., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act 1949, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares:

  1. That the Christchurch Urban Fire District is hereby abolished.

  2. That the area described in the Schedule hereto is hereby constituted a united urban fire district by the name of the Christchurch Metropolitan United Urban Fire District.

  3. That the number of members to be elected to represent the Councils of the City of Christchurch, the Borough of Riccarton, and the Counties of Waimairi, Paparua, Heathcote, and Halswell on the Board of the district hereby constituted shall be four.

  4. That notwithstanding anything contained in section 53 of the Fire Services Act 1949, the amount to be contributed by each of the uniting local authorities to the Fire Board of the district hereby constituted shall, as between each of those uniting local authorities, be in proportion to the value, as at the 1st day of April in each year, of the improvements on the rateable property in their districts or such part thereof as is included in the united urban fire district.

SCHEDULE

CHRISTCHURCH METROPOLITAN UNITED URBAN FIRE DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District comprising the City of Christchurch, the Borough of Riccarton, the County of Waimairi, and those portions of the Counties of Paparua, Halswell, and Heathcote bounded by a line commencing at a point on the western boundary of Waimairi County, being the intersection of the middle lines of Harewood and Russley Roads, and proceeding southerly and easterly generally
