Boundaries of County of Southland and City of Invercargill Altered

Present:

THE RIGHT HON. W. NASH PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares-

1. That, as on and from the 1st day of April 1958, the areas described in the First Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the County of Southland and included in the City of Invercargill:

2. That, as on and from the date aforesaid the areas described in the Second Schedule hereto shall be excluded from the City of Invercargill and included in the County of Southland:

3. That the alteration of boundaries of the said county and the said city hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.

FIRST SCHEDULE

AREAS EXCLUDED FROM COUNTY OF SOUTHLAND AND INCLUDED IN CITY OF INVERCARGILL

FIRSTLY: All that area of land in the Southland Land District and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the left bank of the Waihopai River in line with the western boundary of part Section 26, Block I, Invercargill Hundred; thence southerly, easterly generally, and northerly by the boundaries of the City of Invercargill as described in Gazette of 1957, page 740, to the left bank of the Waihopai River; thence south-westerly generally, by the left bank of the Waihopai River to the point of commencement.

Secondly: All that area of land in the Southland Land District and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the left bank of the Waihopai River at its intersection with a line north-east of, and running parallel to, Racecourse Road, at a distance of 300 links from the centre line thereof, measured at right angles; thence south-easterly along the said line to the northern boundary of the City of Invercargill as described in Gazette of 1957, page 740; thence westerly and northerly by the boundaries of the City of Invercargill described as aforesaid, to the left bank of the Waihopai River; thence easterly generally, by the left bank of the Waihopai River to the point of commencement.

Thirdly: All that area of land in the Southland Land District and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the centre line of Racecourse Road in line with the northern side of Findlay Road; thence south-easterly along the centre line of Racecourse Road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 6, Block II, Invercargill Hundred; thence north-easterly to and along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 6 to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 4597 and deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence south-easterly to and along the north-eastern boundaries of the said Lot 1 and Lot 2, along a right line to and along the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 3, 4, and 5 on the said plan numbered 4597 to the north-western boundary of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 3172 and deposited as aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the said Lot 1, to the north-eastern boundary thereof; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the said Lot 1 to the northern side of the Gore-Invercargill State Highway; thence south-westerly along the northern side of the said highway to the centre line of Rockdale Road; thence south-easterly along the centre line of Rockdale Road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of part Section 3 of 43, Block II, aforesaid; thence north-easterly to and along south-eastern boundary of the said part Section 3 of 43, for a distance of 300 links from the centre line of Rockdale Road; thence south-easterly along a line running parallel to Rockdale Road, across Oteramika Road, and due south along a line 300 links east of the centre line and parallel to the said Rockdale Road to the northern side of an unformed public road, being the extension of Tramway Road; thence due west along the northern side of the said road across Rockdale Road, and the northern side of Tramway Road, to the eastern boundary of the City of Invercargill as described in Gazette of 1957, page 740; thence northerly and easterly generally along the boundaries of the City of Invercargill to the point of commencement.
