The Land and Income Tax Act 1954—Interest on Income Tax Paid in Advance

Pursuant to section 207 of the Land and Income Tax Act 1954 as amended by section 89 (c) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1957, the Minister of Finance has prescribed that interest at 2½ per centum per annum will be credited on advance payments of income tax made by a taxpayer, being a subsisting company or a public authority (other than either of them in the capacity of a trustee or agent), or a Maori Authority, which will become payable during the financial year ending 31 March 1959, provided the total interest so calculated amounts to 5s. or more.

Advance payments carry interest for each complete month commencing from 2 March 1958 or the date of payment (whichever is the later), to 1 February 1959 inclusive.

Notice to Make Returns of Land Under the Land and Income Tax Act 1954

Pursuant to the Land and Income Tax Act 1954, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue hereby gives notice as follows:

  1. A return of land held as at noon on 31 March 1958 is required from every person and company, whether a taxpayer or not, being the owner of land in New Zealand within the meaning of the Land and Income Tax Act 1954, where the total unimproved value exceeds £6,000.

  2. Returns are required to be delivered or forwarded to the district office of the Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Department, where the taxpayer's records are filed, not later than 8 April 1958.

  3. Return forms are available at all district offices of the Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Department, and at all post offices.

  4. Any person or company failing to furnish a return within the prescribed time is liable to a fine not exceeding £100 and not less than £2.

Claim for Registration of School Colours

Pursuant to the Education Act 1914 and regulations thereunder, notice is hereby given that a claim has been made for the registration of the following colours, badges, and monograms for Fairfield College, Hamilton.

Colours—Royal blue and red.

Uniform: Boys'—Cap: Royal blue with badge. Socks: Grey socks with single band, one inch wide, of royal blue.

Girls'—Hat: White panama with royal blue band, and badge. Beret: Royal blue with badge. Tie: Royal blue.

Badge: Red shield with gold edge, on royal blue background. The shield is divided into three sections. Chief: Gold lion passant, gardant. Fesse: Three white manuka flowers with red centres on a black background edged with white. Base: Large gold star.

Motto: Dum Spiro Spero.

If within forty days of the publication of this notice no objection to this claim is received by me, the claim will be registered in accordance with the provisions of the above Act and regulations.
