Constituting the Kakanui Range Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 6392)

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 25th day of September 1957

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby constitutes and declares the area of land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto, being an area to which subsection (1) of section 14 of the Rabbits Act 1955 applies, a rabbit district, and appoints that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the Kakanui Range Rabbit District, and orders that the basis on which the rabbit board to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be the acreage of the land occupied by the ratepayer.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE KAKANUI RANGE RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District and the County of Waitaki containing 137,000 acres approximately, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. A, Kakanui Peak; thence north-westerly along the south-western and western boundaries of Run 681, Kakanui Survey District, and Section 2, Block XIV, Kyeburn Survey District; thence generally north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of that Section 2 and Section 2, Block VIII, Kakanui Survey District, and the north-western and northern boundaries of Section 2, Block II, Kakanui Survey District, to Trig. DD; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Section 2, Block II, to and north-easterly and south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of Section 3, Block III, and easterly to and along the northern boundaries of Section 1, Block III, and Run 504 to its north-eastern corner; thence generally southerly along the eastern boundary of Run 504 to and across Mount Pisgah - Taptii Road; thence generally north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that road to the northernmost corner of Section 6, Block IV, Kakanui Survey District; thence southerly along the eastern boundaries of that Section 6 and Section 8, Block IV, Kakanui Survey District, to and easterly along the northern boundaries of Sections 15 and 14, Block X, Kauru Survey District, to the Kakanui River; thence generally south-easterly down the centre of the Kakanui River to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 3A, Kauru Hill Settlement; thence south-westerly to and along the south-eastern boundaries of Sections 4A and 5A, to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 6A; thence generally southerly to and along the eastern boundaries of Sections 6A and 18A, Kauru Hill Settlement, to French Road; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary of French Road to Kauru Hill Road; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of that road to Mount Pleasant Road; thence generally south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that road to Allen Road; thence generally westerly along the northern boundary of that road to the eastern boundary of Run 572, Kauru Survey District; thence generally southerly along the eastern boundaries of Run 572, Run 217B, Section 4, Block XV, and Section 2, Block XIV, Otepopo Survey District, to the northern boundary of Run 209; thence easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of Run 209 to the north branch of the Waianakarua River; thence generally south-westerly up the centre of that north branch and along the southern boundaries of Run 209 and Run 217B, to its southernmost corner; thence generally north-westerly along the south-western boundaries of Runs 217B, 572, and 571, the south-western and western boundaries of Section 1, Block XV, Kakanui Survey District, and the south-western boundary of Run 682 to the point of commencement.

Conferring Jurisdiction on the Maori Land Court

At the Government House at Wellington this 25th day of September 1957

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 31 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby confers upon the Maori Land Court jurisdiction to determine any matter or question affecting the rights of the Maori beneficiaries of the estate of Paku Edwards, deceased, in any real or personal property comprised in or forming part of the said estate.

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

At the Government House at Wellington this 25th day of September 1957

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use and benefit of the owners of the said land as a meeting place.

Authorising the Investment of £10,900 of the Wellington Harbour Board's Funds

At the Government House at Wellington this 25th day of September 1957

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Wellington Harbour Board to invest from its funds shown in the first column of the Schedule hereto, the sums shown in the second column of the Schedule hereto, in debentures of the Lower Hutt City Corporation Drainage (Harbour Reclamation) Loan 1956, of £10,900, to bear interest at the rate of 4⅞ per cent per annum for a period of twelve years from the 1st day of October 1957.

Approving Bylaws of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to paragraph 15 of the Royal Charter granted to the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (Incorporated) by Her Majesty the Queen at Westminster on 16 September 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby approves the bylaws of the said institute made at Melbourne in the State of Victoria at a general meeting specially called for the purpose and held on the 30th day of November 1956.
