✨ Geographic Names and Sales Tax Decisions

Notice of Final Decision of New Zealand Geographic Board re Assigning of Place Names

WHEREAS, pursuant to section 12 of the New Zealand Geographic Board Act 1946, notice was given on the 4th day of October 1956 of the intention of the New Zealand Geographic Board to assign certain names set out in the first column of the Schedule attached to the said notice to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule:
And whereas, pursuant to section 13 (1) of the said Act, no objections have been received to such of the proposed names as are set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance of section 15 of the said Act, notice is hereby given that on and after the 8th day of April 1957 there shall be assigned the names set out in the first column of the Schedule hereto to the respective places and features set out and described opposite those names in the second and third columns of the said Schedule.

South Auckland Land District
Tarapatiki ..	Locality, post office, Maori block	Block X, Waiau Survey District. Instead of Terapatiki.
Gisborne Land District
Matapehe ..	Peak and trig. station	Trig. P. On the western boundary of Block VI, Tennyson Survey District. This name replaces “McLarens Peak” in order to avoid confusion with “Mount McLaren” known as Trig R. on the north-western boundary of Block VIII, Tennyson Survey District.
Spenser ..	Bay	Block III. Arapawa Survey District. Instead of Spencer.
Marlborough Land District
Marino ..	Mountains	Between Owen and Maunga Survey Districts and forming the watershed between the Matiri and Owen Rivers to the south and the Wangapeka and Rolling Rivers to the north.
Matapehe ..	Peak and trig. station	Trig. P. On the eastern boundary of Block X, Whangamoa Survey District. Replaces “McLarens Peak”.
Otago Land District
Climax ..	Col	Humboldt Survey District. Between headwaters of Joe River and Olivine Ice Plateau.
Southland Land District
Apirana ..	Peak	Caples Survey District. In Darran Mountains about 2 miles north of Lake Adelaide.

NOTE—All names of alpine features are approved subject to the identification of such features on maps.
